Overview: The Consumer Loan Officer Reporting acts as the senior underwriter and perform duties in accordance with established lending policies and approval limits, procedures, and guidelines. This position is the team lead to the junior loan officers and lending processor. The Senior Consumer Loan Officer will assist in achieving strategic and departmental goals and ensure that service to members is always maintained at the highest standards. <br /><br />Under the direction of the Lending Manager, the position may assign and monitor work of the junior loan officers and lending processor.<br /> <p>The Lending Department is a 6-person team. They process and approve all the consumer loan applications using Meridian Link.&nbsp; They strive to know every team member&rsquo;s role to create efficiency and flexibility. Their task requires analytical thinking and adherence to tight deadlines. They know that their daily work plays an integral part in fulfilling the financial needs of our members. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Examine, evaluate, and authorize approval of member consumer loan applications (personal, auto, credit card, home equity) in accordance with COFCU&rsquo;s Lending Policies and Fair Lending requirements.</li> <li>Resolves difficult or more complex problems or situations arising in the department.&nbsp; May be assigned to handle escalated member calls when necessary.</li> <li>Assist in efforts to increase lending production and ancillary product sales, and enhance fraud mitigation processes.</li> <li>Identifies and recommends ways to continuously streamline or improve the work process and/or the work environment.</li> <li>Monitors and ensures all deadlines are met with home equity disclosures, re-disclosures and all other deadlines are met and that work performed is within compliance and completed according to COFCU policies and procedures.</li> <li>Compliance with all applicable regulatory standards is maintained.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in consumer loan and home equity underwriting with 6+ years&rsquo; financial industry experience, preferably with a credit union.</li> <li>MeridianLink experience, preferred.</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of consumer and home equity lending..</li> </ul> <strong>Education</strong><br /> <ul> <li>An Associate&rsquo;s degree in a business related field from an accredited university or college.</li> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred.</li> </ul> <strong>Relevant Skills</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Intermediate to advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas including Truth in Lending, Reg. B, Reg. Z and Bank Secrecy Act.</li> <li>Effective coaching ability to develop a high performing team.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to analyze, research, and resolve straight forward to high complexity problems.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
