Overview: <br />Working under minimal supervision of the Manager General Accounting, referring only exceptional problems and issues for management review or approval, the Staff Accountant assists with the preparation of financial statements, including journal entries, analysis, and amortization of certain prepaid expense and accrued liabilities, as well as analysis of expense trends. Reviews new inventory product classification. Prepares SEC filings and various internal reports. Works on special projects as required.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Where applicable, this position assures departmental processes are performed in compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley controls.</li> <li>Assists with the preparation of&nbsp;financial statements, including journal entries, analysis, and amortization of certain prepaid expense and accrued liabilities as well as analysis of expense trends.</li> <li>Maintains account reconciliations for certain balance sheet accounts. Closes related functions-journal entries.</li> <li>Reviews new inventory product classifications.</li> <li>Prepares SEC reporting and internal reports.</li> <li>Performs all other duties or special projects as assigned.</li> </ul> <div>&nbsp;</div>
Requirements: <br /> <ul> <li>Intermediate&nbsp;Microsoft Excel skills with ability to create complex spreadsheets using formulas, including v-lookup, and pivot tables.</li> <li>Attention to detail in composing, keying, and proofing professional business materials</li> <li>Strong trend analysis skills with ability to analyze expense accounts for trends</li> <li>Working knowledge of general ledger accounting with ability to prepare journal entries.</li> <li>Analytical with ability to draw conclusions from data, systematic and rational</li> <li>Articulate with ability to express oneself clearly and professionally in written and oral communication</li> <li>Decisive with ability to make a prompt determination and substantiate decision if challenged.</li> <li>Detail-oriented with item by item focus, meticulous attention to detail with ability to proofread for accuracy.</li> <li>Inquisitive information seeker with ability to ask probing questions to uncover root causes of problems.</li> <li>Judgment with ability to formulate opinions, compare and decide with good sense.</li> <li>Organized state of mind with ability to document activities, anticipate problems, plan schedules, and monitor performance according to priorities and deadlines.</li> <li>Quick study with ability to master a situation or learn new things with minimum direction or training</li> <li>Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting preferred</li> </ul>
