Overview: <p>The key to making contact (making a connection) is finding some kind of common ground, be open with the customer, be inquisitive while informing them about you. &nbsp;The connection you make with the customer will give you the credit you personally need to allow them to trust you and the business you represent.&nbsp;</p> <p>Be prepared to talk to the customer about THEM. &nbsp;Have a basic understanding about &ldquo;their processes&rdquo; and how we have done work for similar businesses. &nbsp;If you are unsure how they may operate, discuss them with the Operations Manager or President to formulate a strategy for your meeting.</p> <p><strong><u>**The best indicator that someone is not interested is that they stop asking questions.**</u></strong></p> <p>Business attire &amp; Safety Gear: Jeans and polo shirts are generally acceptable daily work attire, preferably in company labeled garb (polo shirts, jackets, etc.). &nbsp;Customers have various safety requirements for PPE(Personal Protective Equipment), the company will supply you safety glasses and a hard hat. &nbsp;Some customers will require safety toe/steel toed shoes/boots therefore you are required to have them. &nbsp;Some steel mills require metatarsal protection in the form a boot so it would be wise to purchase metatarsal boots rather than just steel toed shoes. If additional safety gear is required by a customer you should discuss it with your supervisor and he/she will make the appropriate arrangements depending on the need.</p> <p>Hours:&nbsp; 8:00 am &ndash; 4:30 pm Monday &ndash; Friday<br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; After Hours (as required)</p> <p>Reports to: Operations Manager (Primary)<br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;President (Secondary)<br />&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Personnel Manager (Secondary)</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Attendance to the Monday Meeting (8am) is mandatory unless customer requirements conflict. Then your schedule should be given to the Ops Mgr to present at the meeting.</li> <li>You should have a schedule/plan of attack on your week prepared for the Monday Meeting.</li> <li>Your presence in the office is not required; in fact you are encouraged to spend your time in front of the customer. &nbsp;However, you are expected to report to the office on your whereabouts/and planned visits at least every half day.</li> <li>You are expected to maintain contact with all your customers at least bi-weekly.</li> <li>You are to make at least 5 cold calls (new customers) per week until you have achieved $250k/quarter. Then 5 cold calls per month.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>You are required to track your mileage in order to expense it if using your personal vehicle and you will paid at the government mandated rate.</li> <li>Expense Reports &amp; Sales Reports must be turned in weekly on Monday morning by 10am to the Operations Manager.</li> <li>Cell phones are obviously a mandatory item in today&rsquo;s business world. If you chose to use your personal phone you may receive a stipend in accordance with what the company would pay. If you would like a company phone, you will be supplied an iPhone and case but will be responsible for its care and likewise damage.</li> <li>There are no geographical restrictions to your travel, but your time should be focused in the southeast Michigan region.</li> <li>Most house accounts are up for grabs but must be cleared by both the Ops Mgr and President before being pursued.</li> <li>For the first 3 months of employment the Ops Mgr or the President must review all of your quotes. After 3 months you must cc the Ops Mgr or President on your emailed quotes.</li> <li>New customers are generally placed on COD terms or required to pay by credit card. Exceptions can be made but must be discussed and approved by the Ops Mgr and President.</li> <li>You must attend/participate in one industry training seminar or webinar per quarter (WEG, EASA, Baldor, etc.). It must be discussed/approved by the Ops Mgr or President.</li> </ul>
