Overview: <strong>Highly creative industrial designer responsible for product design of bicycle helmets from concept to production.&nbsp; Creation, management and enforcement of the helmet line design language.</strong>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Conceptualize, prototype, engineer, innovative bicycle helmets</li> <li>Ability to solve complex problems though developing and evaluating options and implementing solutions.</li> <li>Defines, maintains and evolves brand design language.</li> <li>Produce 3D and traditional concept models and functional prototypes for concept evaluation</li> <li>Keep products current with new and developing trends in design, development and manufacturing.</li> <li>Work with Product Management to define user requirements</li> <li>Fully accountable for multiple project schedule coordination and tracking within a fast-paced product/development/manufacturing implementation environment.</li> <li>Strong understanding of and experience with the manufacturing processes including raw materials, production processes, injection molding, rapid prototyping and quality control procedures.</li> <li>Work with suppliers to optimize production techniques, tooling and part cost, pre-production testing and troubleshooting</li> <li>Understanding of social and environmental impacts of design decisions for the product&rsquo;s entire lifecycle</li> <li>Ability to work in a team environment required.</li> <li>Maintains and improves ID shop area.</li> <li>Follow internal controls and company policies as set by Dorel Sports &amp; Cycling Sports Group, as well as, the job function.</li> <li>Contributes to the success of Dorel Sports and Cycling Sports Group by leading or assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in industrial/commercial design or engineering related field required.</li> <li>Minimum 5 years&rsquo; experience in related field</li> <li>Proficiency with 3D CAD software &amp; advanced surface modeling. Solidworks, AutoCAD Fusion 360 strongly preferred, PTC Creo is advantageous Proficiency with 2D and 3D rendering software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Keyshot.</li> <li>Flexible to work in a fast-paced, open team environment, while working on multiple projects in varying levels of development and quickly adjust to market opportunity</li> <li>3D printing experience</li> <li>Hand sketching and modeling</li> <li>Familiarity with PC computer systems required</li> <li>Knowledge of MS Office applications required.</li> <li>Deep understanding of latest manufacturing techniques and materials</li> <li>2D drawing with geometric tolerancing</li> <li>Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills required.</li> </ul> <p><u><strong>Beneficial Qualifications:</strong></u></p> <ul> <li>Passion for cycling</li> <li>Experience in bicycle/sporting goods product development and design</li> <li>Mechanical finite element analysis set up and analyzing experience</li> <li>Experience working with international vendors and manufacturing</li> <li>Proficiency in Workfront, Rhino, Viewforia software programs</li> <li>Fundamental understanding of electronics, PCB production and battery technology</li> </ul> <p><u><strong>Physical Demands:</strong></u></p> <ul> <li>Working conditions are normal for an office environment.</li> <li>Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.</li> <li>Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time</li> <li>Traveling 15 - 25 % of the time domestic and international</li> <li>Use of hand tools</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
