Overview: <br />This position is responsible for leading product strategy and operations for all Covantage JV health plans. The Product Director will be accountable for developing the product portfolio, architecting benefit design, and leading the annual bid process across all JV plans. Responsibilities will also include leading MA Group RFP proposal development and group product benefit design as group opportunities present themselves. This leader will develop, mature, and lead a high-performing team that can drive world-class results and will collaborate with BCBSM Product leadership to leverage best-in-class practices.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.</li> <li>Travel is required.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Lead product strategy efforts for a four-star plus rated Medicare Advantage plan.</li> <li>Identify and drive analytical efforts required to formulate product strategy (e.g. Market and county analysis) and lead team and other functional areas (e.g.&nbsp; Actuaries, Informatics, MA P&amp;L, Risk Revenue, etc.) in the completion of work efforts to inform product recommendations.</li> <li>Ensure product efforts tie to overarching MA strategy and lead the development of a product roadmap that supports alignment with broader strategy and financial goals and objectives of the business.</li> <li>Lead annual bid process, including working closely with other areas post-bid (e.g. Marketing, Sales, PMO, etc.) to monitor and oversee implementation of products.</li> <li>Assist with driving product innovation and partnerships (in JV markets and nationally, as required).</li> <li>Support analysis of CMS regulations to support impact analyses and identification of implications to product strategy/market position/etc.</li> <li>Demonstrate strong communication skills (both verbal and written), including ability to synthesize data to support Executive Communications.</li> <li>Provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination, and management for the development of a cost-effective department while concurrently facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs within the organization.</li> <li>Represent company in community and industry, programs, and conferences.</li> <li>Participate in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the company plan.</li> <li>Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget, and identify budget discrepancies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Research cause and make recommendations.</li> <li>Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department across multiple health plans.</li> <li>Work with sales, marketing, and network teams to ensure strong synergy with the current and future market perspective, and distribution channel strategies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Preferred if candidate also has a strong background in network management.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>DIRECTION EXERCISED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.&nbsp;</li> <li>Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.</li> <li>At present, position has one direct report, but is subject to change with the growth of Covantage.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a related field. &nbsp;</li> <li>Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by Emergent Holdings learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ten years of progressively more responsible experience in a product development environment with demonstrated technical experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Five years of leadership experience in product development management required.</li> <li>Strongly recommended that candidate has health insurance product development experience &ndash; experience in MA product development preferred.</li> <li>Bilingual skills preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated product development knowledge along with a reputation for strong business relationship building.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of key legislative issues that impact Medicare business.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of managed health care industry and Medicare Advantage industry.</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to Medicare and associated insurance coverage.</li> <li>Strong strategic planning, program development, project management, and staff development skills.</li> <li>Must demonstrate leadership ability and team-building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Candidate must have working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.</li> <li>Candidate should have experience overseeing development of benefit configuration and PBP document.</li> </ul>
