Overview: <br />This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating the enterprise risk management processes and governance functions for Emerging Markets (property &amp; casualty and health care lines). This includes maintaining risk lists, assessing risks, and reporting on risks via scorecards, snapshots, and reports. <br /><br />This position will interact with all levels of management therefore the role requires the incumbent to have strong written and verbal communication skills. The Enterprise Risk Management Advisor will have a broad vision of all risks impacting the enterprise, dedicated to learning about all major risks and the risk management framework, and able to work independently as well as in a team.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel is occasionally required.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /><br /> <ul> <li>Review, suggest and facilitate updates for the risk appetite statement and corporate risk tolerances</li> <li>Analyze complex risks, and present analysis in a clear and concise format for communication to the appropriate parties</li> <li>Ability to manage and facilitate committee meetings</li> <li>Develop and maintain relationships with segment and BCBSM partners to stay abreast of issues and risks facing the business</li> <li>Responsible for updates, maintenance, and understanding of risk lists for assigned segments with ability to connect information between segments and the impact on the enterprise overall</li> <li>Handle the development and completion of presentations and reports with minimal oversight required exhibiting understanding of material and audience</li> <li>Emerging Markets liaison to BCBSM RMS <ul> <li>Lead EM risk assessments and collection of underwriting data as requested by BCBSM Risk Management</li> <li>Review and ensure accuracy and consistency of risk assessment information</li> </ul> </li> <li>Proactive research on business issues, risks, trends, and material provided by segments and ability to piece together information across business segments and to see the broader picture</li> <li>Strong knowledge of financial statements and understanding of risks impact financial results and key metrics</li> <li>Proactive in preparation for various risk owner meetings with agenda items, questions, and outstanding item to effectively gather needed information and ability to effectively manage conversations</li> <li>Attend and actively participate in various performance management, governance, and risk owner meetings as requested</li> <li>Assess needs and create material to support risk and capital reporting in plan and strategy documents</li> <li>Exhibit strong project management skills on complex projects from conception, planning, and through execution, tracking timelines and materials</li> <li>Appropriately assess and respond to all requests from BCBSM, audit, and other areas</li> <li>Assist in the creation of a department strategic plan that supports corporate initiatives.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in business, finance, or a related area required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>WORK EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li><a target="_blank">Minimum of four years of broad risk management experience required.<br /><br /></a></li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently and with limited guidance</li> <li>Effectively exchange information in a clear and concise manner.
