Overview: <p>The Director of Medicare Advantage Sales and Retention position is charged with the responsibility of developing and maintaining client strategies on Medicare Advantage and drives new Employer Group Sales growth activities in close partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) enterprise teams. The Director will set the vision and identify strategic direction for the Employer Group Sales and Retention teams. This position establishes vision and identifies strategic direction for the business units and supports corporate goals and objectives.&nbsp;This position reports to the Vice President, Group Medicare Advantage.&nbsp;<a target="_blank">Responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective customer relations with prospective and enrolled accounts, agents, consultants, vendors and internal partners.&nbsp;</a><a target="_blank"></a></p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Directs activities of multiple functional areas, including, but not limited to, planning, staff development, problem solving, and communications.</li> <li>Ensure department vision and goals are aligned with overall function and the organization.</li> <li>Provide high-level oversight and leadership to multiple business units and lead change effectively.</li> <li>Manage and develop business unit leadership.</li> <li>Lead segment RFP activities and develops external Go-To-Market messaging to drive Prospect conversion, in collaboration with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Commercial business.</li> <li>Provide effective and efficient solutions to complex business problems.</li> <li>Drive department activities relative to sound financial management of new growth and retention strategies.</li> <li>Coordinates with multiple sales leadership teams and sets priorities that maintain continuity in accomplishing the sales and membership growth goals and retention goals set for the enterprise.</li> <li>Select, contract and manage vendor partners to deliver Employer Group solutions and ensure consistency with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Commercial business, where appropriate.</li> <li>Identify and communicate market trends to senior leadership.</li> <li>Develop materials to support internal executive status updates and communication of department strategies across the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan enterprise.</li> <li>Establishes goals and objectives for the business units that support quality improvement.</li> <li>Represents Company in community and industry, programs, and conferences.</li> <li>Upon request, functions as the department head in the absence of the executive leader.</li> <li>Participates in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the company plan.</li> <li>Participates in development of annual departmental budget, monitors budget, and identifies budget discrepancies.&nbsp; Researches cause and makes recommendations.</li> <li>Responsible for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.</li> <li>Fosters a strong collaborative and inclusive working environment centered on solution-oriented problem solving and innovation.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>DIRECTION EXERCISED:</strong></p> <p>Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.&nbsp; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.</p>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION:</strong></p> <p>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a related field.&nbsp; Master&rsquo;s degree in public health, health care administration or other related field is preferred.&nbsp; Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance License required. Valid and unrestricted driver&rsquo;s license required.&nbsp; Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.&nbsp; Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp; Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</p> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <p>Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible experience in a Health Care/Insurance environment with demonstrated technical experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.&nbsp; Five (5) years management or supervisory in Health Care/Insurance required.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>&nbsp;</em></p> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the insurance industry and issues impacting healthcare costs</li> <li>Deep understanding of BCBSM business strategies and business processes, and how they work together</li> <li>Ability to build internal capabilities, and assemble and develop a supporting management team.</li> <li>Ability to develop productive relationships with providers and clients to sell products.</li> <li>Ability to frame and structure problems, discern critical issues, and drive solutions.</li> <li>Ability to successfully manage, develop, and lead a business.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills</li> <li>Strong presentation skills and decision-making ability.</li> <li>Ability to successfully manage the business and lead large-scale projects.</li> <li>Ability to effectively integrate multiple processes and systems to achieve desired results.</li> <li>Strong understanding of the market and how it differs from Middle &amp; Small to individual, and how large group business is driven largely by relationships, consulting, and being innovative.</li> <li>Knowledge of what the customer and the organization needs and the ability to implement change effectively.</li> <li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.&nbsp; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.&nbsp; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.</li> <li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.&nbsp; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</li> <li>Must demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of unit team.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions, and employing active listening techniques.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Must demonstrate self-motivation, enthusiasm, organizational skills, and be goal-oriented.</li> <li>Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.</li> <li>High energy individual with outstanding people skills, organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Strong network and relationship building skills, problem-solving, negotiating, and communication skills.</li> <li>Experience with negotiating and fulfilling national customer requirements.</li> </ul> <div id="gtx-trans" style="position: absolute; left: -615px; top: 26.7639px;">&nbsp;</div>
