Overview: <br />Responsible for assisting in the preparation of quarterly GAAP and Statutory financial statements, tax returns, special reports, and analysis for multiple entities in multiple states. Prepares complex journal entries. Reconciles complex general ledger accounts by comparing balances to supporting detail, analyzing differences, and proposing correcting entries when necessary. Performs research regarding financial, tax, or regulatory reporting requirements for multiple entities in multiple states. Routinely coordinates and communicates with Executives of the Company, staff at the Parent and other affiliated companies, state regulators, and third-party business partners.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel may be required.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Assists in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP).</li> <li>Assists in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns.</li> <li>Prepares complex month-end journal entries, analyzes account activity, reconciles general ledger accounts, and proposes correcting entries when necessary.</li> <li>Supports both external and internal audits of financial, tax, and regulatory financial reports and filings providing detailed schedules and support as required.</li> <li>Routinely coordinates and communicates with Executives of the Company, accounting and other staff at the Parent, various state regulators, and third-party business partners.</li> <li>Maintains confidentiality of information processed.</li> <li>Has the ability to work independently.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports and statements.</li> <li>Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and tax guidance.</li> <li>Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other desktop software.</li> <li>Knowledge of multi-entity accounting and reporting</li> <li>Ability to perform intermediate mathematical computations.</li> <li>Ability to perform other assignments at locations outside the office.</li> <li>Ability to enter alpha/numeric data accurately.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to solve problems independently</li> <li>Ability to work with minimum supervision.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting or finance is required.</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by the Company&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>CPA</strong>&nbsp;license is required.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>One year relevant experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience in healthcare or insurance industry is preferred. Experience with multi-entity accounting is also preferred.</li> </ul>
