Overview: The Manager of Financial Applications and Systems is the central point of finance contact for all projects and process improvement initiatives. This role serves as the department&rsquo;s business expert on financial systems, internal controls and finance-related processes. Responsible for directing the Model Audit Rule reporting and compliance. Leads and/or represents the department&rsquo;s needs on Enterprise projects and issues offering options and ideas that will meet the Operating Unit and Finance business needs. This role is responsible for leading project and process improvement initiatives and is responsible for partnering with senior management to optimize the efficient and effective utilization of budgeted resources. This role must demonstrate strong leadership and collaborative skills within a cross functional (matrix) environment to ensure successful completion of enterprise-wide Finance initiatives. As an advocate for the Finance organization, this role must provide timely analysis/updates on programs/projects, process improvement efforts, business cases and tactfully challenge assumptions as necessary.&nbsp;The ideal candidate must be self-directed, results oriented and focused on continuous process improvement. In addition, this role must drive adherence to all corporate finance policies, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls, general accepted accounting principles and regulatory statutes.<br /><br /> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.<br /><br /><br /><strong>PAY RANGE:</strong><br /><br />Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate&rsquo;s skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $88,600 and $148,500. </p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Leads the selection, installation, conversion, upgrade, and improvement of information systems within the department.</li> <li>Analyze data to identify opportunities for process&nbsp;improvement, cost reduction, increased efficiency, and alignment across functions and broader enterprise strategies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Lead and successfully execute initiatives around system upgrades, application configurations, reporting and various finance-related process improvement initiatives.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist internal clients in the development and implementation of business strategy goals, P&amp;L targets and forecast business needs.&nbsp;</li> <li>Leverage knowledge of the enterprise business model and key business processes that impact the company to help drive financial strategy, reduce cost trends, increase department value, and capture greater value.</li> <li>Evaluate cost structures and process flows, to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide data analysis and interpretation to assist in the development of client's financial business plan to ensure adherence to budget requirements and corporate capital plan.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide project/program accounting support.&nbsp;</li> <li>Analyze vendor relationships to ensure accruals are accurate and provide support for re-bids as required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Prepare various financial reports to help drive financial project strategy &amp; performance.</li> <li>Assist in the identification of technology &amp; process related cost reduction opportunities.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>DIRECTION EXERCISED:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Directly supervises staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws.</li> <li>Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing staffing plans and information security budgets, effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related field required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Master's Degree in related degree is preferred.</li> <li>Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.&nbsp;</li> <li>Continuous learning, as defined by AFHI&rsquo;s learning philosophy, is required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.</li> <li>Prior experience in an Insurance company, preferred, related environment with demonstrated technical experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. &nbsp;</li> <li>Workers&rsquo; compensation insurance experience preferred.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Five (5) to seven (7) years of project management experience in a Financial setting required.&nbsp;</li> <li>One (1) to three (3) years healthcare or insurance plan experience preferred.&nbsp;</li> <li>Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a finance leadership role preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to lead teams evaluating IT and process solutions that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and controls of the Finance Department.</li> <li>Advanced knowledge of activities, practices and terminology for property and casualty insurance companies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Must demonstrate leadership ability and team-building skills to effectively influence professional and non-professional staff and interact with all levels of management.</li> <li>Ability to work with and empower others on a collaborative basis to ensure success of the enterprise.&nbsp;</li> <li>Highly proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP Financial systems) like &ndash; NetSuite, PeopleSoft, Oracle).</li> <li>Experience with Insurance industry applications like the Guidewire Insurance suite preferred.</li> <li>Ability to effectively exchange information, in verbal or written form, by sharing ideas, reporting facts and other information, responding to questions and employing active listening techniques.</li> <li>Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Strong analytical, planning and reporting skills required.</li> <li>Strong data management and financial/operational metric scenario modeling skills preferred.</li> <li>Demonstrated success in leading process improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Ability to effectively collaborate and lead within a cross functional team.</li> <li>Ability to successfully manage completing priorities under severe time constraints.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in team environment and with multiple priorities and certain deadlines.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization.</li> <li>Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.</li> <li>Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (e.g., Word, Excel,&nbsp;Access&nbsp;and PowerPoint).</li> <li>Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.</li> <li>Certification (CPA, CMA, CFM) preferred or an advanced degree in Finance or Accounting.&nbsp;</li> <li>Other duties may be assigned.</li> </ul> <br /><br /> <p>The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.&nbsp;</p> <p>We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
