Overview: This intermediate analyst position is responsible for supporting the Company&rsquo;s actuarial functions. The core actuarial functions include reserving, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring. Additional responsibilities include management reporting, competitor analysis, strategy support, and other ad hoc projects.&nbsp;
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Independently gather and organize data and perform analyses for reserving, capital management, and/or other financial or business purposes. Make recommendations and present findings to appropriate audiences.</li> <li>Provide commentary for various reports. Monitor management reporting metrics and report on unexpected variances. Participate in the development of new reports and tools for the department.</li> <li>Monitor deployment of predictive models.</li> <li>Independently update assumptions, parameters, and formulas in forecasting and reserving tools.</li> <li>Assist with updating the Capital Model.</li> <li>Perform ad hoc projects as required. Meet required deadlines. Document work performed.</li> <li>Represent Actuarial in meetings with business partners.</li> <li>Exercise discretion when communicating outside of the department and maintain confidentiality of information processed as appropriate.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><em>Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.</em></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required, preferably in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field.&nbsp;</li> <li>Successful completion of at least three (3) actuarial exams is required.</li> <li>A minimum of two (2) years of actuarial experience required, preferably in the health industry.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong><br />QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to apply the principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, identify trends and draw conclusions.</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate actuarial concepts and conclusions to non-actuaries.</li> <li>Comfortable leading meetings and facilitating discussion.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish workflows, and meet necessary deadlines.</li> <li>Ability to perform actuarial and statistical analyses.</li> <li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
