Overview: <p>Senior Health Services is looking for pharmacy students in their second year to assist with the quality improvement metrics for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Medicare population.</p> <p>Fully remote, full time paid summer internship. Equipment will be provided.</p> <p>Interns are required to work 40 hours per week from mid-May to mid-August the summer between P2 and P3 year.</p> <p>Primary responsibilities include telephonic outreach to patients and providers to support CMS Stars measures such as Medication Adherence and Statin Use in Persons with Diabetes (SUPD).</p> <p>Opportunities to learn about several aspects of Part D insurance and practice in a managed care pharmacy setting.<br /><br /><br /></p> <p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p> <p>Work is performed remotely or can be hybrid.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate&rsquo;s skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Prepares and delivers presentation(s) on assigned topic(s).</li> <li>Shows learning and both personal and professional growth and understanding of responsibilities.</li> <li>Shows punctuality, professionalism, and a positive attitude when completing assignments.</li> <li>Manages multiple deadlines.</li> <li>Maintains confidentiality.</li> <li>Responds to internal and external customer inquiries.</li> <li>Assemble member communication letters and articles regarding a variety of health and medication topics.</li> <li>Compose communications directed to prescribers about common prescribing issues.</li> <li>Conduct member education calls to assist with Medicare Part D quality improvement measures.</li> <li>Attend meetings and collaborate with clinical pharmacists and other team members to develop and execute projects.</li> <li>Manage, organize and analyze information databases relative to intern projects.</li> <li>Perform other related duties which may not be specifically listed in the position description, but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee&rsquo;s class of work.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><br />We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Completion of 2 years of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program by the start of the internship program is mandatory.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>A GPA of at least a 3.0 in the PharmD program and completion of a Bachelor's degree prior to the start of the PharmD program are both highly preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>EXPERIENCE:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work experience in a hospital or community pharmacy is preferred.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Excellent working knowledge of computers and company standard software; Internet research experience strongly preferred.</li> <li>Ability to proofread documents for spelling, grammar and punctuation.</li> <li>Strong phone skills, especially when speaking to members/patients.</li> <li>Communication professionally with physician offices.</li> <li>Good presentation skills and medical literature research skills are essential.</li> <li>Participate in shared decision making and escalate to pharmacy preceptor when appropriate.</li> <li>Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely and to present ideas, report facts and other information.</li> <li>Full and complete documentation of patient and provider conversations.</li> <li>Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines while maintaining composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.</li> </ul> <br /><br />The qualifications listed above are intended to represent the minimum education, experience, skills, knowledge and ability levels associated with performing the duties and responsibilities contained in this job description.<br /><br /><br />We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
