Overview: <p>The role of the Health &amp; Safety Specialist is fundamental in creating a secure and healthy workplace. With a primary focus on day-to-day implementation and continuous improvement, this position ensures that safety programs are effectively carried out throughout the Site. By conducting regular audits and assessments, the Health &amp; Safety Specialist identifies potential risks and develops action plans in conjunction with cross-functional teams to address them. Their close collaboration with operations leaders helps maintain compliance with safety protocols and regulations.</p> <p>Taking an active approach, this role involves spending variable time on the production floor engaging with Team Members, and addressing safety concerns firsthand. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations, guiding leaders to improve safety behaviors and prevent injuries.</li> <li>Perform safety evaluations, and audits, and facilitate Joint health and safety committees.</li> <li>Investigate incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and provide recommendations for corrective and preventive measures.</li> <li>Collaborate with agency partners to manage the return-to-work program.</li> <li>Undertake risk assessments, and site inspections, and identify potential hazards.</li> <li>Lead in-house training sessions to address health and safety topics with cross-functional teams.</li> <li>Monitor and stay updated on new legislation, industry trends, and best practices.</li> <li>Manage the administration of health and safety tasks, including incident reporting and workers' compensation cases in conjunction with the WSIB disability specialist.</li> <li>Coordinate inspections and implement corrective measures while maintaining records and statistics.</li> <li>Integrate and manage KPI tracking for health and safety performance into regular operations meetings.</li> <li>Demonstrate company values, work with integrity, and be a supportive Team Member.</li> <li>Comply with the Health &amp; Safety policies of the company and inform Management of unsafe working conditions.</li> <li>Other duties as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Three to five years prior experience in a manufacturing setting working in a dedicated Health &amp; Safety Role.</li> <li>Formal education and/or training in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent experience.</li> <li>Certified Health and Safety Professional e.g., ASP/CRST, CSP/CRSP&reg;/PSAC&reg;, or CHSC would be an asset.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of the OHSA/OSHA and other related Health and Safety legislation.</li> <li>Safety knowledge in Fall Protection, Heat Stress, Safe Lifting, and WHMIS.</li> <li>Ability to be the visible, front-line representative for health and safety on site.</li> <li>Strong administrative, multi-tasking, time management, and planning and organizational skills.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills, communication (both written and verbal), and relationship-building skills.</li> <li>Flexible, open, and approachable attitude.</li> <li>Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as within a collaborative team setting.</li> <li>Proven competency in fostering a Health &amp; Safety environment.</li> <li>Proven facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills along with superior interpersonal and organizational skills required to deliver training and coaching to teams and individuals at all levels within the organization.</li> <li>Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment within specified timeframes and where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>What is the recipe for a great career at FGF?<u><br /></u></strong><u><br /></u>Working at FGF Brands, there is never a dull moment!
