Full Time

Overview: This is an individual contributor role in the Research and Development group. The scope of this role expands over multiple facets of R&amp;D, but primarily focusing on business continuity projects, commercialization, process improvement and plant support.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead/support projects focusing on process development/optimization, productivity, and any business continuity initiatives from R&amp;D standpoint within the sliced cakes category.</li> <li>Lead/support commercialization of new products and ensure post-launch quality of products is maintained and/or improved.</li> <li>Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure any change regarding Bill of Materials, Process Standards, and Formulations etc. is managed flawlessly through established procedures.</li> <li>Learn and adhere to the company&rsquo;s innovative Product Lifecycle Management program; as well learn and utilize other technical tools as required for the role.</li> <li>Ensure that technical knowledge of the baking industry is continually upgraded with emphasis being placed on processes, products, and ingredients.</li> <li>Adhere to plant safety policies and communicate any safety issues to the appropriate personnel.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>1-3 years of experience in Food R&amp;D. Previous experience with bakery, specifically frozen sweet baked goods category will be a plus.</li> <li>Commercialization experience on high-speed automated production lines will be plus.</li> <li>Minimum, Bachelor of Science (Food Science, Chemistry or related) or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Biological or related) is required.</li> <li>Must be Creative, Go-getter and excellent Collaborator.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) are paramount.</li> <li>Flexibility to adapt to ever changing dynamics of the industry, as well as the organization which strives for continuous improvement of its products and processes.</li> <li>Infectious enthusiasm and commitment to adapt to organization&rsquo;s mission of becoming World&rsquo;s Greatest Baker.</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Work environment and expectations:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Required to work in Laboratory, Production floor and Office/desk.</li> <li>Must be flexible to occasionally work in off-shifts and/or weekends.</li> <li>Travel to sites within GTA area is required. &nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>FGF Brands is a leading North American bakery company with a specialized focus across all key bakery categories, including donuts, flatbreads, laminates, breads and rolls, cakes, alternate breads, and others.
