Overview: The Piping drafter will be proficient in drafting and designing piping systems and have a solid understanding of engineering principles and industry standards. This role involves creating detailed piping layouts and schematics to support engineering and construction projects and ensure compliance with technical specifications and project requirements. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.<br /> <br />
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Piping Design: Using CAD software, prepare detailed piping drawings and diagrams, including plans, sections, and elevations.</li> <li>Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including piping specifications, materials lists, and installation guidelines.</li> <li>Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical support throughout the design process.</li> <li>Standards Compliance: Ensure all piping designs and drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and company specifications.</li> <li>Design Optimization: Review and analyze piping designs to optimize for functionality, cost-effectiveness, and safety.</li> <li>Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough checks of all drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and completeness and address discrepancies or issues.</li> <li>Revisions and Updates: Implement design changes and revisions as required, maintaining accurate records of all modifications.</li> <li>Problem Solving: Identify and resolve design issues or conflicts in piping layouts, collaborating with team members to develop effective solutions.</li> <li>Site Visits: If necessary, conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and gather information for accurate drafting and design.</li> <li>Preparing layouts, calculations and designs related to the most complicated elements of projects</li> <li>Drafting moderate-to-complex 2D drawings, charts, schedules, etc.</li> <li>Preparing as-built drawings based on field red-line markups</li> </ul> <strong>Perks of the job</strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Benefits after 300 hours</li> <li>Variety of work hours</li> <li>Salary equivalent to experience and skill level</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Piping design diploma or equivalent is required.</li> <li>Technical study can be considered (drafting design software)</li> <li>Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cadworx, Spoolfab (acorn), Navisworks and familiarity with piping design tools and standards (e.g., P and ID, ISO drawings).</li> <li>Knowledge: Understanding of piping materials, specifications, and industry codes. Worked with 3D laser scans and Pointclouds for fit-up on piping and steel systems (e.g., ASME, API).</li> <li>Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.</li> <li>Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.</li> <li>Ability to manage client-side emails to handle questions and issues promptly and professionally.</li> <li>Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven ability to identify and resolve design issues and conflicts &ndash; and work alongside the client to come to solutions on complex piping systems from a constructability point of view</li> <li>Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping drafting or a related field, with a strong portfolio of relevant projects.</li> <li>Use with CADworx mandatory (auto plant could be accepted)</li> <li>Experience in Navisworks software is mandatory</li> <li>Preferred experience with Spoolfab (acorn)</li> <li>Experience in using Pointclouds is an asset</li> <li>Experience with fabrication shops is an asset</li> <li>On-site construction experience is an asset</li> <li>Field PID walk-downs is an asset</li> </ul> <strong>Other important details</strong><br /> <br />This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position and will require completion of a drug and alcohol testing.<br /> <br /><strong>Why FLINT</strong><br /> <br />FLINT strives every day to be recognized as your employer of choice, modelling our core values not only to our customers but also to our employees.
