We have an exciting opportunity at our Mesa, Arizona facility for a Senior Research Chemist in our CMP group!<br /> <br />With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Europe, Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan, local sales offices throughout the world and on-site applications support, FUJIFILM Electronic Materials supplies the world's top tier semiconductor manufacturers with a broad array of products and services used throughout the semiconductor manufacturing process.<br /> <br />The Role<br /> <br />The Sr. Research Chemist will support new Chemical Mechanical Polishing/Planarization (CMP) slurry formulation development and provide chemistry consultation to the technology development team. The primary focus will be formulation development for BEOL slurries for next generation semiconductor technologies.<br /> External US Key
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Develop new CMP slurry formulations as per customer&rsquo;s/semiconductor technology node needs.</li> <li>Apply knowledge of acids/bases, corrosion inhibitors, chemical/particle interactions, electro-chemistry, organic/inorganic chemistry, surfactants, and interfacial chemistry to CMP slurry development</li> <li>Investigate chemistry and abrasive interactions with different dielectric and metal films.</li> <li>Fine-tune slurry chemistry to get desired polishing rates &amp; metrology performance for BE/MOL slurries</li> <li>Coordinate with engineering and the lab staff on formulation needs with respect to CMP slurries.</li> <li>Provide consultation and technical expertise related to CMP slurries&rsquo; chemistries to Applications, R&amp;D and Process Development/Manufacturing teams.</li> <li>Conduct literature/ IP search, document results, present data to technology team &amp; file patents.</li> <li>Design experiments to prove hypothesis and execute test plans for data collection.</li> <li>Analyze/interpret data and ability to prepare and present technical data package to both internal and external customers.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Minimum Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Surface Chemistry, Materials Science or Colloidal Science is required.</li> <li>Minimum 1-2 years prior experience with the semiconductor industry (FEOL/MOL/BEOL), CMP slurries, polishing and metrology tools, and abrasive particles used in CMP slurries preferred.</li> <li>Analytical abilities, experimental skills and expertise in chemistry required. Previous proven success in formulation development is beneficial.</li> <li>Familiarity with silica abrasives, Zeta Potential, corrosion, surfactants, and electro-chemistry&nbsp;desired.</li> <li>Highly self-motivated, creative individual with a passion for research and development leading to high-impact practical applications products for the semiconductor industry.</li> <li>Fast learning capability for the new challenges</li> <li>Excellent communication, data collection, time management and organizational skills required.</li> <li>Proficiency in office software such as MS Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook required.</li> <li>Must be highly organized and have ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.</li> <li>Must be able to communicate and work well with other professionals in a team environment.</li> <li>Must have ability to work extensively in lab environment and direct technicians to support project needs in an efficient manner.</li> <li>Job may require standing and working in the lab for substantial parts of some days.</li> <li>Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.</li> <li>This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment.
