Overview: <p><strong>BEGIN A CAREER THAT MEANS MORE</strong></p> <p><strong>Few internships offer the satisfaction and gratification that come from doing work that improves the lives of vulnerable children and families. That's where Firefly Children and Family Alliance stands out from the crowd. As one of our interns, you'll be able to directly make an impact on the lives of thousands of Indiana children, families, and adults.</strong></p> <p>Firefly is currently seeking an&nbsp;<strong>Intern</strong>&nbsp;for our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department. As an intern with Firefly, you will have the ability to shadow and gain a critical understanding of the rewards and challenges of the social services field. Our interns come out of our program with a key understanding of their impending careers and equipped with real world expectations.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Create learning objectives to meet school program expectations for student learning plan with your supervisor.</li> <li>Engage in community mapping research that will help our staff provide critical resources to clients.</li> <li>Help build a database of community resources across the agency that is delineated by targeted demographic groups.</li> <li>Meet with various program staff to answer critical questions and obtain information.</li> <li>Assist VP of DEI with various administrative tasks specific to community engagement and DEI programming.</li> <li>Attend regular supervision meetings and some team meetings with various program and administrative staff.</li> <li>Research various equity and human-centered Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) across a broad spectrum of social service dimensions.</li> <li>Engage in agency offered training.</li> <li>Assist with data entry &amp; collection as needed.</li> <li>Performs other related duties, as assigned.</li> </ul> <br /> <p>As an Intern in our DEI department, you will have little to no direct interaction with clients. This is primarily an opportunity for you to hone your data collection skills and abilities. However, the nature of the department is relational (both toward internal and external constituencies) &amp; developmental. So, the intern should be familiar with:</p> <p>Systems thinking</p> <ul> <li>The intersectionality of identities</li> <li>Inclusive language and behaviors</li> <li>Privilege and Oppression (as concepts and as lived realities)</li> <li>Equity-centered leadership</li> </ul> <br /> <p>This position requires travel around the State to our various offices. So reliable transportation is needed. Mileage will be reimbursed.</p>
