Work location is subject to change based on business needs. <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Summary of the Job:</strong></p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> AmeriFirst, a Division of FNBO, is hiring a Credit Underwriter who is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for home improvement loans and other asset classes. The position assembles loan files for loans that meet initial lending criteria and are within approved lending limits and presents loan requests above lending limit for approval as per loan policy. The underwriter ensures that customers and prospective customers are promptly and professionally served and reviews loans that exceed Junior Credit Underwriter limits. The role assists other Credit Underwriters as necessary.
Responsibilities: <br /> <p><strong>1.&nbsp;Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, processing, and coordinating loan functions.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Gathers information and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests within their limit of authority.</li> <li>Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria for the requested product. Computes debt ratios. Verifies employment and income. Determines value of collateral and homeownership when required. Approves loans within limits of authority and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required.</li> <li>Ensures that each loan file is promptly and properly prepared and documented based on the applicable loan product used and ensures correct procedures are followed to complete all requests for credit.</li> <li>Verifies terms, rates and discounts on loans for proper disclosure and applies special handling as required by loan type requested.</li> <li>Performs duties of area personnel as required. This can include reporting, processing of disclosures, and creation and delivery of electronic or paper documents to the proper parties. Assists with merchant support as needed to create sign on credentials and assist with input, communication, and document issues as needed.</li> <li>Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Company policies and are procedurally compliant.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>2.&nbsp;Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with customers.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that contractor requests and questions are promptly and courteously resolved. Answers questions regarding lending policies and programs that are of a general nature and refers in depth inquiries to the Credit Manager as needed.</li> <li>Ensures the Company's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>3.&nbsp;Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Attends meetings as required.</li> <li>Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.</li> <li>Assists in training and cross training of Junior Underwriters and support personnel. Assists area personnel as needed and other department personnel as needed.</li> <li>Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. Documents loans and attaches and/or documents all supporting information as required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>4.&nbsp;Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained and adheres to policies concerning shredding of confidential or personal information for both the customer and the company.</li> <li>Completes special projects as assigned.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Lending functions are effectively performed in accordance with established Company policies and with legal and regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Good business relations exist with contractors and merchants. Programs and services are properly and thoroughly explained, and customer&rsquo;s needs are accurately assessed. Customer problems are courteously and promptly resolved.</li> <li>Required reports and documentation are accurate and timely.</li> <li>Good working relationships exist with area personnel and with management. Area personnel are assisted as needed.</li> <li>Credit applications and related financial data are closely and effectively analyzed and evaluated, and where applicable, service level requirements are met and maintained.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED</li> <li>Previous lending experience or experience with full-service financial institution helpful.</li> <li>Minimum of three years of experience as a Credit Underwriter</li> <li>Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.</li> <li>Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards and required loan documentation.</li> <li>Knowledge of Company loan services, policies, and procedures.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Skills/Abilities:</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills</li> <li>Strong analytical and financial skills</li> <li>Ability to operate related computer applications including loan origination and document preparation software</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Equity, Diversity, &amp; Inclusion:</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>FNBO is committed to belonging, inclusion, diversity and equity.
