Overview: A new Respiratory Therapist midnight shift opportunity is available at the Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit on West Grand Blvd.&nbsp;This is a department of approximately 100 Therapists, Externs, Coordinators, and Clinical Managers.&nbsp;<br />Hyperbaric medicine resides within the Respiratory Therapy department.&nbsp;Successful candidates would possess critical thinking skills, be able to work independently, be a patient healer and not task orientated.&nbsp;<br /><br />The Henry Ford Hospital is a Level 1 trauma center, a teaching and research hospital. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Performs patient assessment, care-planning and collaboration with other health care providers. Patient care provides 100% of work hours.</li> <li>Communicates with co-workers, and other professionals, including physicians and nurses as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Attends and actively contributes to daily bedside rounds.</li> <li>Demonstrates proficiency in various departmental subspecialties, clinical areas, life-support, diagnostic and monitoring equipment. Displays competency in various special procedures and protocols, and works in multiple IPD locations.</li> <li>Maintains clinical productivity standards.</li> <li>Performs specific duties as determined by site assignments, which may include equipment cleaning, maintenance, repair and testing.</li> <li>Documents patient care timely and in accordance with department standards.</li> </ul>
Requirements: PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: <br /> <ul> <li>Work performed in a patient care setting and blood-analysis laboratories.</li> <li>Wash, clean and disinfect soiled medical equipment.</li> <li>Work with pressurized piped-in and bottled medical gases.</li> <li>Must be able to constantly move, lift patients, help push patients on hospital beds, and move heavy equipment across the hospital.</li> </ul> EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:&nbsp;<br /> <ul> <li>Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.&nbsp;</li> <li>Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred, Associate of Science Degree, minimum.&nbsp;</li> <li>Recent graduate of a Respiratory Therapy school or two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a Tertiary Hospital.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br />CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:&nbsp;<br /> <ul> <li>Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.&nbsp;</li> <li>Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.&nbsp;</li> <li>Newly graduated therapists will be allowed 90 days from the date of graduation to complete their registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care and to obtain a State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
