Overview: <p>Under minimum supervision, assembles, installs and repairs piping, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to blueprints, local building codes, plumbing codes and oral instructions.<br /> <br /> WORKING CONDITIONS:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>May receive burns from hot steam or torches. Chance of cuts or bruises from pipes, saws, and the like.</li> <li>Exposure to chemicals, contaminated tissue and fluids.</li> <li>The ability to lift, carry, push or pull materials and equipment weighing up to thirty (30) pounds.</li> <li>The ability to climb, crawl, stoop or kneel to inspect, repair or install pipes located underground, between walls or in ceilings.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>&nbsp;Determines sequence of installation and tools required from blue prints and oral instructions.</li> <li>&nbsp;Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure.</li> <li>&nbsp;Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hands and power tools.</li> <li>&nbsp;Measures, cuts, and threads pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe threading machine.</li> <li>&nbsp;Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron and steel and non-metals, such&nbsp; &nbsp;as glass and plastic using hand and power tools.</li> <li>&nbsp;Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder/caulk joints, and brazing. Purges Medical Gas Systems.</li> <li>&nbsp;Pressurizes pipe system to check for leakage.</li> <li>&nbsp;Installs all plumbing fixtures, repairs equipment.</li> <li>&nbsp;Installs Medical Gas Systems and</li> <li>&nbsp;Performs other related duties as required.</li> </ul>
