Overview: <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Overview:<br /></span></strong>Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday + evenings and weekends as necessary<br />Location: Onsite in the Lower East Side at least 3 days per week; must be able to commute to multiple LESEN Partner locations.<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /><br />Organizational Summary:</span></strong><br /><br />The Lower East Side Employment Network (LESEN) is an interagency collaboration composed of nine member agencies (Partners) including the Chinese-American Planning Council, CMP, Educational Alliance, Good Old Lower East Side, Grand Street Settlement, Henry Street Settlement, University Settlement and The Door, and Vision Urbana, serving as Manhattan's Community District 3 local hiring vehicle with limited oversight by Community Board 3.<br /><br />The Network provides customized employment services for developers and companies on the Lower East Side (LES), and throughout New York City, who are planning to hire entry- and mid-level staff for hospitality, retail, healthcare, and other sectors.<br /><br /><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Job Summary:</span></strong><br /><br />The LESEN Partnership Director is the Network's primary contact, representing its Partners on collaborative business with all key stakeholders including but not limited to developers, businesses, lobbyists, funders, LES community and workforce industry advocates, the local Community Board, elected officials' offices, tenant associations, job seekers and respective Partners' executive, managerial and line staff.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Lower East Side Employment Network (LESEN), aligning workforce development initiatives with neighborhood economic development priorities, community needs, labor market trends, and citywide employment opportunities to advance economic mobility for New York City residents.</li> <li>Oversee all Network operations, performance management, and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring effective collaboration among partner organizations, employers, funders, government agencies, and community stakeholders while driving achievement of workforce development goals and outcomes including the direct placement of jobseekers into employment, facilitating certifications for newly hired employees, and providing durable skills training and work support for 100 jobseekers each year.</li> <li>Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive job development, employer engagement, and business partnership strategies that create sustainable employment pathways, career advancement opportunities, and sector-based training programs for diverse populations, including immigrants, young adults, justice-impacted individuals, NYCHA residents, and other residents facing barriers to employment.</li> <li>Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with employers, industry leaders, workforce development agencies, educational institutions, elected officials, Community Board 3, and economic development partners to expand hiring opportunities, strengthen talent pipelines, and support community workforce needs.</li> <li>Direct recruitment, hiring, and workforce connection activities, including job fairs, hiring events, employer information sessions, training partnerships, and customized recruitment initiatives that connect job seekers to quality employment opportunities.</li> <li>Establish and maintain systems for data collection, performance tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement, utilizing labor market information and outcome metrics to measure impact, inform strategy, and meet partner and funder requirements.</li> <li>Convene and facilitate partner collaboration, strategic planning, and cross-organizational initiatives to strengthen service coordination, share workforce resources, and advance collective employment and economic development goals across the Lower East Side.</li> <li>Represent LESEN in workforce, economic development, and community forums while overseeing marketing, communications, public outreach, and advocacy efforts that promote the Network's mission, partnerships, services, and impact.</li> <li>Supervise a LESEN Partnership Associate and develop Network staff and partner-supported personnel, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture while serving on the LESEN Leadership Team and reporting to the Operations Chair with a secondary reporting relationship to the Executive Chair.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Core Performance Metrics Framework Will Include, But Not Be Limited To:</strong> <ul> <li>Number of business development and employer partnerships established.</li> <li>LESEN partner job placements achieved through network coordination.</li> <li>LESEN sector-based training completions and certifications facilitated through network coordination.</li> <li>Hiring, networking, and resource events held collaboratively with LESEN partners.</li> <li>Design, implementation and execution of new durable skills training for LESEN partner job seekers.</li> <li>Effective management, work supports and resources for LESEN partner job seekers.</li> </ul>
