Building on its 130+year legacy of innovation and effective programming, Henry Street offers more than 50 programs and is one of New York City&rsquo;s largest social service agencies.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Position Overview:</strong></p> <p>Henry Street Settlement is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Financial Counselor to support the Jobs Plus Program in Manhattan's Lower East Side (LES), a place-based workforce initiative designed to increase employment, earnings, and financial stability among NYCHA residents. The Financial Counselor plays a critical role in advancing financial capability, asset building, and long-term economic mobility through individualized coaching, group workshops, and strategic partnerships.</p>
Responsibilities: <!-- x-tinymce/html --> <p><strong>Financial Coaching &amp; Case Management<br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct comprehensive financial assessments and provide 1:1 coaching to support a minimum of 30 members per month in achieving goals related to budgeting, savings, credit building, debt reduction, opening a safe and affordable bank accounts and long-term financial stability.</li> <li>Develop individualized financial action plans and document progress toward milestones via Salesforce.</li> <li>Assist members with FAFSA applications and access to financial aid resources, including TAP, the Excelsior Scholarship, NYCHA scholarships, and additional educational funding opportunities.</li> <li>Support members in navigating complex financial challenges (e.g., debt, collections, student loans, wage garnishments).</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Benefits Access &amp; Financial Stability</strong></p> <ul> <li>Utilize tools such as ACCESS NYC to assess eligibility and connect members to public benefits (SNAP, cash assistance, healthcare, etc.).</li> <li>Provide guidance on NYCHA policies (ACOP), rent calculations, and recertifications.</li> <li>Assist members in resolving tenancy or financial-related issues in coordination with property management.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Workshops &amp; Financial Education</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and facilitate a minimum of three workshops per month focused on financial literacy, covering topics such as banking, credit, savings, taxes, debt management, and financial wellness Partnership Development &amp; Resource Navigation.</li> <li>Build and maintain partnerships with financial institutions, community-based organizations, and city agencies.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Outreach &amp; Community Engagement</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct outreach within NYCHA developments to promote financial counseling services.</li> <li>Collaborate with Jobs Plus staff to drive program engagement and participation.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>Metric Achievement, Data, Reporting &amp; Compliance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist a minimum of 50 members per quarter in achieving Employment and Advancement Preparation Measures and financial capability milestones.</li> <li>Maintain accurate and timely case notes, service data, and outcomes tracking in designated systems.</li> <li>Monitor member progress and ensure accountability toward program goals.</li> <li>Submit regular reports to program leadership.</li> <li>Participate in required training through HRA and NYC Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) and additional training and meetings to support program functions.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential Physical Job Functions:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to work fully onsite in the Lower East Side.</li> </ul>
