Overview: <div><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Performs technical work in the examination of plans, blueprints, and specifications pertaining to the construction of commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure structural soundness and compliance with all applicable building/construction codes and ordinances.</span></span></div>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Examines residential and commercial plans and specifications for compliance with construction building codes.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Interprets codes and regulations to clients and assists in the alteration of construction plans to meet all applicable codes.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Ensures that projects comply with Florida Accessibility Code, Life Safety Codes and the Florida Energy Code.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Review plans for structural, plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical compliance with codes.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Examines residential site plans for compliance with construction code.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Reviews plans for flood compliance.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Trains lower level Building Plan reviewers in this initial duties and procedures.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Answers questions from public pertaining to building issues.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Furnishes technical advice and information to field and office personnel within the limits of authority assigned by the Supervisor or Building Official.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Application intake for commercial projects.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Inspects building and site construction and the installation of plumbing, electrical, or gas systems or mechanical equipment for compliance with state and county codes, laws and ordinances.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Inspects construction sites for general compliance with zoning, flood, and other site requirements.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Performs other related duties as required.</span></span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.</span></span></li> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong>Tier 1</strong>: Possession of one (1) standard Plans Examiner License issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board, under Chapter 468 of the Florida Statutes; or</span></span> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Five (5) years of experience in the applicable construction trade or related field inspection or plans review;
