Overview: Our mission is to provide effective quality service at a reasonable cost with courtesy, integrity and accountability in a manner that protects and enhances the quality of life of our diverse population.<br /><br />The Risk Manager is responsible for managerial and administrative work in planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating an insurance and risk management program for Hillsborough County government. This includes the management of comprehensive insurance programs, occupational safety programs, loss control and loss prevention programs, and auto, general liability and property claims adjusting and resolution. Employees can select from three health care plan options. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</li> <li><strong>Vision Care:&nbsp;</strong>Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</li> <li><strong>Employee Assistance Program:&nbsp;</strong>This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provides superior customer service to citizens.</li> <li>Coordinates with County departments in the development and monitoring of safety programs.</li> <li>Evaluates, settles, and processes auto, property, and liability claims.</li> <li>Coordinates claim processing with the County&rsquo;s third-party administrator.</li> <li>Handles the receipt of insurance certificates including the determination of appropriate policy limits.</li> <li>Analyzes and reports on claim results for the purpose of enhancing loss control activities.</li> <li>Supervises and develops Risk Management section staff.</li> <li>Provides safety training for County staff.</li> <li>Investigates and acts on employee safety concerns when appropriate.</li> <li>Runs Claims Committee meetings.</li> <li>Responds to and investigates major accident scenes involving County employees or activities.</li> <li>Identifies and assesses risk and exposure in all phases of the County&rsquo;s operations.</li> <li>Implements strategies to manage insurable and/or hazard risks.</li> <li>Directs the purchase of insurance programs and policy renewal process.</li> <li>Maintains a complete inventory of all insurable County assets.</li> <li>Makes recommendations regarding insurance coverage and insurance requirements.</li> <li>Interacts with the County&rsquo;s insurance consultants, attorneys, insurance brokers, Commissioner&rsquo;s Offices, third party administrator, department directors, senior management, and other appropriate parties.</li> <li>Stays current with professional certification requirements and industry trends through attendance at professional education seminars, relationships with outside counterparts, and other means.</li> <li>Maintains a comprehensive set of Risk Management policies.</li> <li>Performs other related duties as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <h2>IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE</h2> <div> <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree in Risk Management or related field&nbsp;</li> <li>Certified Risk Manager&nbsp;</li> <li>Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst&nbsp;</li> <li>Professional Risk Manager&nbsp;</li> <li>Risk and Insurance Management Society Fellow&nbsp;</li> <li>Associate in Risk Management&nbsp;</li> </ul> </div> <h2>JOB OVERVIEW</h2> <div>The Risk Manager is responsible for managerial and administrative work in planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating an insurance and risk management program for Hillsborough County government.
