Overview: <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">This position works under the supervision of the Manager for Hearing Operations and collaborates closely with Senior GIS Analyst on several tasks regarding the maintenance of all Development Services' GIS layers.&nbsp; These include but are not limited to a) mobility fee layers; b) zoning layers (current and under review); c) development review applications, among others.&nbsp; It also collaborates in the production of thematic maps for several land use hearings and DSD projects, as required.</span></div>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Creates, updates and digitizes GIS layers to maintain an accurate geodatabase available to internal and external users.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Assists in digital organization, inventorying and locating maps to ensure accessibility. These include but are not limited to old zoning paper maps and current digital zoning GIS layer for consistency.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Collaborates in the creation of thematic maps.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Assists in the development of basic GIS analysis under the coordination of the Senior GIS Analyst.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Verifies proposed mapping coordinates and boundaries by using geometric mathematical formulas and updates databases.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Provides help to staff and citizens with mapping questions and research of older cases.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Other duties as assigned.</span></li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">One year of computerized or manual map drawing experience.</span></li> </ul> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Fifteen (15) semester hours from an accredited college or university in a computerized mapping, computerized drafting, computer programming, cartography and/or GIS, with at least nine (9) semester hours in computerized mapping, cartography and/or GIS.</span></li> </ul> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Successful completion of a Vocational or Technical Training Program in computerized mapping, cartography or GIS; or</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies listed.</span></li> </ul> <br /> <div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong><u>Job Specifications</u></strong></span></div> </div> <div> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Working knowledge of cartographic techniques and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Working knowledge of computers.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Some knowledge of land codes and surveying practices.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ability to read and interpret aerial photographs, maps, deeds and legal descriptions.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Skill in the use and operation of computers and peripheral equipment such as digitizers, plotters and drafting instruments.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ability to work effectively with others.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</span></li> </ul> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong><u>Physical Requirements</u></strong></span></div> </div> <div> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to read computer screens and printouts.</span></li> </ul> <span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong><u>Work Category</u></strong></span> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong>Medium work</strong>&nbsp;- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</span></li> </ul> </div>
