Overview: The Wellness Specialist position will conduct exercise classes, exercise equipment orientation, coordinate wellness classes, schedule special events, and maintain the day-to-day operation of Healthy Living Centers.&nbsp; This position will ensure and maintain enhanced operations based on best practices and closer liaison with both internal and external customers.&nbsp; This position will allow Health Care Services to achieve increased efficiencies for Hillsborough County taxpayers by providing on-site enhanced Healthy Living Center programming, contributing to the continued development of existing and new services.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Monitors Healthy Living Program participants to ensure they use fitness equipment and perform exercise safely and correctly.</li> <li>Develops a pre-assessment and exercise/workout program for&nbsp;each Healthy Living participant.</li> <li>Performs repeat assessments at designated intervals to determine participant success and attainment of goals.</li> <li>Maintains the database of Healthy Living Program participants and their progress toward goals set during the pre-assessment.</li> <li>Interacts with Community Partners to develop and implement classes on exercise, nutrition and other health related topics and recruits participant for those classes from Healthy Living Program participants.</li> <li>Instructs various group fitness classes, including but not limited to basic step, toning, yoga, boot camp, Pilates, etc.</li> <li>Develops reporting for management on program utilization and participant progress toward set goals.</li> <li>Performs daily cleaning and wipes down strength and cardiovascular equipment.</li> <li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>An Associate's Degree in a health and wellness-related field.</li> <li>Two years of experience in a health and wellness-related field.</li> <li>An equivalent combination of education, training and experience would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.&nbsp; (For education and experience only, does not include legally required Licenses and Certifications.</li> <li>Possession of current CPR/Basic Life Support, AED and First Aid Certifications.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong><u>Job Specifications</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of agency procedures and documentation.</li> <li>Working knowledge of office policies, procedures, and practices.</li> <li>Working knowledge of English grammer, punctuation, and spelling.</li> <li>Knowledge of health and wellness&nbsp;principles and practices.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to evaluate member/customer information to determine course of action.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with others.</li> <li>Ability to use interpersonal communication effectively to establish and maintain active working relationships with others within and outside the organization.</li> <li>Ability to coordinate the work of other employees.</li> <li>Ability to use a computer to quickly and accurately enter and retrieve data.</li> <li>Ability to use time management skills and be able to work individually as well as be a team player with minimal supervision.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Physical Requirements</u></strong></p> <p>Requires clear vision, hearing and speech.&nbsp; Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.&nbsp; Uses hands to handle and feel, and reaches with hands and arms.&nbsp; Must be able to lift/move 20 lbs. on a regular basis, 50 lbs. frequently, and occassionally up to 100 lbs.</p> <p><strong><u>Work Category</u></strong></p> <p><strong>Heavy Work</strong>- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</p>
