Overview: Performs duties inspecting child care facilities and family day care homes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, providing consultations and training. Employees can select from three health care plan options. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment.</p> <p><strong><u>Dental Insurance:</u></strong> Employees are eligible to enroll in the dental coverage and choose from four options: High DMO, Low DMO, a network Open Access Plan, and a PPO. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</p> <p><strong><u>Vision Care:</u></strong> Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</p> <p><strong><u>Employee Assistance Program:</u></strong> This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.</p> <p><strong><u>Tuition Reimbursement:</u></strong> Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.</p> <p><strong><u>Holidays:</u></strong> Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.</p> <p><strong><u>Veteran&rsquo;s Preference:</u></strong> Do you qualify for Veteran's Preference? Preference will only be entitled upon initial appointment for eligible veterans and eligible spouses of veterans. Documentation that clearly shows dates of service, campaign awards or medals received, and character of discharge (DD-214 Member-4 or Service-2 copy) to support entitlement to preference must be provided at the time of application.</p>
Responsibilities: <p>Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.</p> <ul> <li>Inspects child care facilities and family day care homes, observing conditions of physical plants and delivery of child care services, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provides information, technical advice and guidance to facility owners/operators on child development, children&rsquo;s health and safety and other pertinent information.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identifies the need for specific programs that would promote a higher quality of child care.&nbsp;</li> <li>Organizes, promotes and conducts workshops to educate owners/operators/parents of licensing requirements and issues involved in operating a safe and healthy environment for young children.&nbsp;</li> <li>Investigates or assists superiors in investigating complaints of owner/operator violations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Presents findings to and confers with superiors on the appropriate method of enforcement in unusual cases.&nbsp;</li> <li>Prepares license revocation cases and testifies at administrative and court hearings.&nbsp;</li> <li>Prepares reports on inspections conducted and actions taken.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintains required records and files.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs other related duties as required.</li> </ul> <strong>Work Category</strong><br /><strong><br />Light work</strong>&nbsp;- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.&nbsp; If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
Requirements: <strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong><br /> <ul> <li>A Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child Care Center Management or any Behavioral or Social Science field for Inspector&rsquo;s positions;&nbsp;<strong>AND&nbsp;</strong>One year of experience as a licensing inspector of child care facilities or family child care home;&nbsp;<strong>OR</strong>&nbsp;as a manager, owner, or operator of a child care facility or family child care home;&nbsp;<strong>AND&nbsp;</strong>Possession of a valid Driver License.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <strong>Job Specifications</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Knowledge of regulatory requirements concerning the licensing and operation of child care centers and family dare care homes in Hillsborough County.&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of the functions, services, procedures and regulations of the unit to which assigned.&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of County building codes and ordinances.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to prioritize work.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to follow established procedures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.</li> </ul> <strong>Physical Requirements</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Frequently sitting at a desk or table&nbsp;</li> <li>Frequently standing and/or walking around inside and outside of child care facilities.</li> </ul>
