Overview: Our mission is to provide effective quality service at a reasonable cost with courtesy, integrity and accountability in a manner that protects and enhances the quality of life of our diverse population.<br /> <p>This position serves as the manager for the Stormwater Services Section within the Technical Services Division of the Public Works Department, and is responsible for the day to day coordination of stormwater planning, engineering and investigations.</p> <p>This position also requires considerable contact with County officials, consultants, other agency representatives, and other internal and external contacts, and requires excellent communication and public relations skills.</p> <p>This classification performs management duties related to stormwater planning and engineering, and oversees a staff of licensed professional engineers and unlicensed engineering staff. Responsibilities: <p>Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.&nbsp;<br />Manages and coordinates stormwater planning, engineering, and investigations.&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Oversees development of and reviews stormwater plans and investigations. Coordinates responses to stormwater concerns received from citizens.&nbsp;</li> <li>Oversees watershed master planning, and reviews of development plans involving stormwater modeling for the Development Services Department.&nbsp;</li> <li>Serves as liaison with other departments. Coordinates with various local, state and federal permitting agencies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Manages numerous design and engineering consultant work assignments for stormwater-related projects.&nbsp;</li> <li>Attends and/or conducts Public Information Meetings, during and after normal working hours.&nbsp;</li> <li>Attends Board of County Commissioners' meetings. Makes public presentations, as necessary.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs other related duties as required.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <h2>IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE</h2> <div>The Hillsborough County Public Works Department is seeking a proactive, dynamic, seasoned professional to lead the Stormwater Services Section of the Technical Services Division. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, collaborator, and has strong communication skills. The individual will anticipate problems so they can be remedied before they become significant issues whether related to community issues or program delivery.
