Overview: <div> <p>Our mission is to provide effective quality service at a reasonable cost with courtesy, integrity and accountability in a manner that protects and enhances the quality of life of our diverse population.<br /><br />Utility Locate Technician is responsible for locating, and marking the location of subsurface utilities in order to prevent accidental damage or disruption of service using locating instruments, and utilities maps and diagrams. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Responsibilities: <p>Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below:</p> <ul> <li>Locates and marks location of water, reclaimed water or wastewater lines to prevent damage during construction, boring and digging operations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintains accurate records using paper and/or electronic systems.&nbsp;</li> <li>Uses electronic and/or paper utility maps, engineering plans, computer programs and other drawings to assist in determining actual location of utilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Uses electronic pipe locating equipment, ground penetrating radar (GPR), metal detectors, shovels, probing rods and measuring instruments to field verify the location of utilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identifies errors and/or makes corrections to utilities maps and relay the information for GIS mapping updates.&nbsp;</li> <li>Interacts with general public and contractors to relay information relating to utilities.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs related work as required.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
