Employees can select from three health care plan options. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment.</li> <li><strong>Dental Insurance:&nbsp;</strong>Employees are eligible to enroll in the dental coverage and choose from four options: High DMO, Low DMO, a network Open Access Plan, and a PPO. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</li> <li><strong>Vision Care:&nbsp;</strong>Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.</li> <li><strong>Employee Assistance Program:&nbsp;</strong>This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.</li> <li><strong>Tuition Reimbursement:&nbsp;</strong>Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.</li> <li><strong>Holidays:&nbsp;</strong>Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <h4>The Wellness Specialist position will conduct exercise classes, exercise equipment orientation, coordinate wellness classes, schedule special events, and maintain the day‐to‐day operations of Healthy Living Centers. This position will ensure and maintain enhanced operations based on best practices and closer liaison with both internal and external customers.</h4> <p>Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.</p> <ul> <li>Monitors Healthy Living Program participants to ensure they use fitness equipment and perform exercise safely and correctly.</li> <li>Develops a pre-assessment and exercise/workout program for each Healthy Living participant.&nbsp; Performs repeat assessments at designated intervals to determine participant success and attainment of goals.&nbsp; Maintains the database of Healthy Living Program participants and their progress toward goals set during the pre-assessment.</li> <li>Interacts with Community Partners to develop and implement classes on exercise, nutrition and other health related topics and recruits participants for those classes from Healthy Living Program participants.</li> <li>Instructs various group fitness classes, including but not limited to basic step, toning, yoga, boot camp, pilates, etc.</li> <li>Develops reporting for management on program utilization and participant progress toward set goals.</li> <li>Performs daily cleaning and wipe down of strength and cardiovascular equipment. Oversees fitness and wellness program marketing materials and processes.</li> <li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p>This classification description is not intended to be, nor should it be construed as an all inclusive list of the duties associated with a particular position. Requirements: The Ideal Candidate will have a minimum of an Associate&rsquo;s Degree in Wellness, Exercise Physiology, or other related field and at least 2 years of experience working in a wellness or fitness center environment. Must be able to communicate well and have the ability to motivate people to make healthy choices and lifestyle changes.&nbsp; Experience working one on one with clients to assess wellness needs and develop workout plans and proper nutrition plans is a plus.&nbsp;The applicant should be capable of developing curriculum for classes on healthy lifestyles and eating and exercise habits as well as exercise classes and other health related fields.<br /><br /> <p>Minimum qualifications: Associate's degree; and at least 2 years of experience in the health and wellness field; and Current CPR/Basic Life Support, AED, and First Aid Certification.</p> <p>Physical Demands: Conducting exercise classes.&nbsp;Cleaning and ensuring that all fitness equipment is operational.</p> <p>Work Environment: Working in a wellness center environment to include conducting exercise and health education classes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /></p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of agency procedures and documentation.</li> <li>Working knowledge of office policies, procedures, and practices.</li> <li>Working knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.</li> <li>Ability to evaluate customer's information to determine course of action.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with others.</li> <li>Ability to use good judgment in handling employee/citizens' concerns while keeping supervisory staff well informed.</li> <li>Ability to perform accurate computations and verifications of data.</li> <li>Ability to coordinate the work of other employees.</li> <li>Ability to use computer terminal to quickly and accurately enter data.</li> </ul>
