Responsibilities: <strong>JOB OVERVIEW:</strong><br />This position is responsible for beach patrol and patron surveillance of open water swimming areas, maintenance, and grounds keeping of beach areas and parks.<br /><br /><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Provides patron surveillance of swimming area and enforces park policies, procedures, and rules to ensure the safety and well-being of the park patrons.</li> <li>Responds to distressed swimmers and drowning victims.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provides first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to patrons during emergencies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintains the beach grounds by renovating beach sand, weed eating, and maintaining buoy lines and beach area.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs maintenance such as painting, minor boardwalk repair, docks, fences, and other maintenance tasks.&nbsp;</li> <li>Cleans and resupplies restroom, shelters, and picks up ground trash.&nbsp;</li> <li>Performs other related duties as required.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <strong>WORK CATEGORY:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Graduation from High School or possession of a GED certification; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certification.</li> </ul> OR <br /> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years of age and current High School student; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification; and</li> <li>Possession of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certification.</li> </ul> <strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Must be fit enough to get in and out of the water quickly.</li> <li>Must be able to swim for a certain distance in a certain time.</li> <li>Ability to lift up to 75lbs.</li> </ul> <strong>JOB SPECIFICATIONS:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Knowledge of applicable park regulations, ordinances, and beach rules.</li> <li>Knowledge of American Red Cross lifeguard training methods and techniques.</li> <li>Skill in American Red Cross Lifeguard techniques.</li> <li>Skill in administering CPR and First Aid.</li> <li>Skill in preparing and completing reports.</li> <li>Ability to read and understand job related materials.</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with others.</li> <li>Ability to maintain a current American Red Cross Life guarding, CPR, and First Aid Certifications.</li> </ul>
