Responsibilities: <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.</span></div> <div> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Independently reviews and approves development services permit applications.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Inspects building and site construction and the installation of plumbing, electrical, or gas systems or mechanical equipment for compliance with state and county codes, laws and ordinances.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Inspects construction sites for general compliance with zoning, flood, and other site requirements.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Serves as architectural/engineering technical specialist or subject matter expert in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in assigned area; remains informed of new techniques, technology, and requirements for the purposes of recommending changes in programs or applications; interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of architecture/engineering as related to the variety of aspects; applies expertise acquired through progressive architectural/engineering experience to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions; remains informed of new methods and practices, and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of projects.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Supervises and manages a staff of Architects, Engineers, and Plans Examiners; reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Interacts with architects, engineers, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others; leads project meetings and makes presentations; represents the County and maintains productive relationships with individuals and related organizations.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Performs other architectural/engineering duties as required.</span></li> </ul> <br /> <div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong><u>Emergency Management Responsibilities</u></strong></span></div> </div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">In the event of an emergency or disaster, and employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration.
