Responsibilities: <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.</span></div> <div> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Receives direction from Chief Construction Codes Inspector.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Supervises by planning, assigning, directing, and reviewing work of subordinates; providing training and counseling; evaluating performance to ensure all work activities are carried out properly and in accordance with governing directives.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Reviews plans and specifications for building permits, checking for compliance with current state of Florida Building Codes and Hillsborough County Construction Ordinance.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Inspects building and site construction and the installation of plumbing, electrical, or gas systems or mechanical equipment for compliance with state and County codes, laws and ordinances.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Inspects construction sites for general compliance with zoning, flood, and other site requirements.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Assesses code inspection complaints and takes appropriate action.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Issues citations or notices of violation for non-compliance of Florida Building Codes or Hillsborough County Construction Ordinance.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Testifies before the Board of Adjustment and Appeals or in a court of law when subpoenaed.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Performs and manages quality assurance program for current staff, contract staff and private provider staff.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Leads training programs for staff.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Development of manuals and checklists for the team.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Monitors inspector certifications periodically to ensure that they are current. Schedules vehicle maintenance and informs inspectors of scheduled date to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and operational ready.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Schedules Continuing Education Unit (CEU) classes for inspectors to ensure State requirements are met and certifications are kept current.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">Attends industry meetings to address upcoming Code issues.</span></li> </ul> <br /> <div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;"><strong><u>Emergency Management Responsibilities</u></strong></span></div> </div> <div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: medium;">In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.</span></div> </div>
