Overview: <ul> <li><strong>Success through Teamwork</strong>: Collaborates and builds partnerships through trust and the open exchange of diverse ideas and perspectives to achieve organizational goals.</li> <li> <p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong>50% to 70% of the duties are office related. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Provide detailed, written technical reviews of new products and present them to the Utility Product Review Committee.</li> <li>Participates in infrastructure planning and development of design, construction, operations, and maintenance of utility or developer projects.</li> <li>Designs parts of engineering infrastructure, operations and maintenance projects and preparing requests for proposal (RFP).</li> <li>Participates in project construction, operations, and maintenance by preparing or reviewing construction drawings, specifications, plans and permit packages and preparing change orders.</li> <li>Conducts environmental engineering reviews for permit applications.</li> <li>Performs or supervises the inspection of projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.</li> <li>Assists in the planning, research, and conduct of environmental and mapping surveys.</li> <li>May supervise and/or oversee the work of others by scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, providing training and counseling, and evaluating performance.</li> <li>Prepares correspondence and work status reports.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li> <p>A Bachelor's degree in Engineering; <strong>and&nbsp;</strong>Two years of engineering-related experience in planning, developing, implementing, designing, computer modeling, or inspecting <strong>and&nbsp;</strong>License/certification as Florida "Engineer Intern" as defined in Chapter 471.005(6) Florida statutes&nbsp;<strong>and&nbsp;</strong>Valid Florida Driver&rsquo;s License</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of construction standards, methods and materials for water, wastewater, and reclaimed&nbsp;facilities and infrastructure.</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of design standards including hydraulic and process design calculations for water utility facilities and infrastructure.</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of project management and contract administration principles and practices.</p> </li> <li> <p>Knowledge of computer operating systems and software, such as MS Office.</p> </li> <li> <p>Skill in effectively communicating project goals and objectives.Skill in coordinating resources (money, man-power, and materials) for the successful completion of projects</p> </li> <li> <p>Skill in negotiation of contracts and work orders with vendors, consultants, and contractors.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to represent the Department and speak confidently, in the absence of the Professional Engineer Supervisor, on a broad range of topics including applicable aspects of engineering, algebra, physics, trigonometry, chemistry, and science.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical people.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to deliver a high volume of work, with a sense of urgency, for the Department, and in other job responsibilities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience working one or more semesters as an engineering co-op.</p> </li> <li> <p>Two or more years&rsquo; experience working in a design, planning, or project management engineering position</p> </li> </ul>
