Responsibilities: <ul><li>Observes signal for official start and activates stopwatch to time work out. </li><li>Observes horse crossing markers denoting fractional parts and finish line of work out to note and record time elapsed. </li><li>Compares recorded results with those obtained by automatic electronic timer and reports difference to racing officials. </li><li>Writes daily report of name of horse, fractional and total time required for each work out to submit to track officials.</li></ul>
Requirements: <ul><li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.</li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. </li><li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.</li><li>Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.</li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.</li></ul>
