Overview: <p>Horace Mann is offering a unique opportunity for employment in our 12-month Leadership, Excellence, and Acceleration Program (LEAP) designed to prepare participants for sales leadership roles through education, mentoring, rotations, and real work assignments. Each experience is designed to provide meaningful learning and practice for success in future Horace Mann jobs. This inaugural and small cohort of participants will have the opportunity to both benefit from the program and play a part in the final design.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>12-month practicum designed to prepare the participant for one of three roles, depending on opportunity and match: Agency Consultant, Area Manager, or Hub Agent</li> <li>Successful completion of coursework, including self-study and in-person instruction, as well as experiences rotating through various functional areas of the company</li> <li>Participation with an assigned mentor from the field sales leadership team, requiring completion of assignments as well as reverse mentorship expectations</li> <li>Practicum will include project and/or functional assignments to develop an understanding of Horace Mann and may include one or more of the following: <ul> <li>Data gathering and applying analytics to solve sales needs</li> <li>Development of sales processes, including identifying of necessary data and tools, development and delivery of presentations, and instruction to others</li> <li>Market access strategies developed and tested</li> <li>Deliver existing market access presentations and follow up on leads to schedule appointments for appointed agent/sales representative</li> <li>Member of a sales program implementation team (Back to School, product roll out, etc.)</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Ability to and interest in developing relationships to positively influence sales</li> <li>Ability to build networks of resources in order to accomplish goals</li> <li>Goal-oriented, able to set clear expectations for self and others</li> <li>Organized, attention to detail, and self-motivated</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with competing priorities, and balance the work to meet expectations</li> <li>Ability to pivot when faced with changing and competing priorities, showing resiliency while still maintaining focus on overarching goals</li> <li>Comfort with and ability to collect and analyze data, finding ways to organize, sort, understands, and then share data to provide insight and drive decisions</li> <li>Possesses business acumen basics such as profit and loss, managing risk, assessing market competition, and leading people</li> <li>Preferred experience in customer service, success at jobs requiring self-management and motivation</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred</li> <li>Unrestricted, permanent US work authorization.</li> </ul>
