Finance & Planning

Overview: <p>Position is responsible for directly supervising accountants on areas of accounting ranging from statutory reporting for property and casualty business to cash controls.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Leads cash controls activities including review of daily entries, daily balancing, and monthly cash account reconciliations</li> <li>Oversees annual and quarterly statutory statement filing process</li> <li>Reviews quarterly and annual statutory statement filings</li> <li>Monitors, interprets, and maintains compliance with changing technical rules and regulations</li> <li>Manages dues and assessments payment process including monitoring state pronouncements for changes in filing requirements</li> <li>Works directly with IT business partners to update and/or create reports to satisfy state filing requirements</li> <li>Serves as financial lead in projects of varying scope to draft requirements, define appropriate accounting, and ensure compliance with internal controls</li> <li>Acts as financial business partner to divisions</li> <li>Partners with external auditors and regulators at the senior manager/manager level</li> <li>Creates or has input to operational plans and budgets</li> <li>Coaches, mentors and trains managers and high-level accountants</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Extensive technical and specialized knowledge of insurance statutory accounting and reporting as well as product knowledge</li> <li>Broad working knowledge of effective control structures and key controls</li> <li>4-year accounting degree, 8+ years&rsquo; experience with 3+ years in management, CPA or MA required, Public Accounting experience preferred</li> <li>Ability to support heavy workload during quarter-end and year-end</li> </ul>
