Overview: <br />The Group Claims Support Assistant will assist the Group Claims Department with new claims set-up, filing, archiving, and ordering archived claim files, job requests, copying, sending out letters, and participating in special projects as necessary.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Assist with incoming mail review through regular USPS or electronic mail from Data Dimensions. Evaluate disability applications for thoroughness; request additional documentation from applicant or employer, as necessary. Route electronic mail to the designated Claim Specialists</li> <li>Index different document types that come into the Group Claims Department by mail, electronic mail, faxes, and email. Set up initial disability claim records into our paperless claims storage system.</li> <li>Set up invoices for payment of expenses from vendors and medical providers.</li> <li>Reviewing Paid-Up Life applications and entering the new applications in Microsoft Access.</li> <li>Printing, folding, and mailing correspondence for off-site employees. Manage special mailings for Claim&rsquo;s Specialists as needed.</li> <li>Burning CDs upon request for Claims staff. Hyland print e-mails and paper mail into claim file.</li> <li>Update PolicyPro to reflect Employer and Contact person changes.</li> <li>Processing and mailing FICA billings, commission checks and other reports monthly.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.&nbsp;</li> <li>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</li> </ul> <strong><br />Education and/or Experience:</strong>&nbsp; <br /><br /> <ul> <li>One to two years of experience in the insurance industry preferably specific experience in group life and disability products is desired.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Skills and/or abilities:</strong>&nbsp;<br /><br /> <ul> <li>Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail. &nbsp;</li> <li>Must also have superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize the workload.</li> <li>Regular and reliable attendance is required.</li> </ul> <strong><br />Computer Skills:&nbsp;<br /><br /></strong> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of personal computer required, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and other mainframe applications, as necessary.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
