Finance & Planning

Overview: The&nbsp;<strong>Associate Actuary</strong>&nbsp;will support the Supplemental division (group, life and health) in a variety of ways. Potential responsibilities will include performing valuation and financial reporting work, analysis of statistical data for rate studies and conducting insurance rate filings. May ascertain premium rates required and cash reserves necessary to ensure payment of future benefits.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual valuation reporting for group &amp; individual supplemental health lines of business.</li> <li>Support Long-Duration Targeted Improvements work for reserve updates as needed.</li> <li>Analyze and summarize results in a concise manner for management, auditors, and other interested parties.</li> <li>Write computer programs for special studies in Access, Excel and Visual Basic, SQL, R.</li> <li>Run and modify existing programs such as asset shares, reserve factor development, loss ratio studies, lapse rate studies and company projections.</li> <li>Perform studies for rate increases.</li> <li>Collaborate and communicate effectively with programmers, underwriters, claims experts, accountants, and management.</li> <li>Implement rate increases, complete rate filings and annual rate certifications for state insurance departments.</li> <li>Develop and set assumptions and pricing of new products.</li> <li>Develop actuarial memorandum for filing new products.</li> <li>Other actuarial duties as assigned.</li> </ul>
