Overview: Claims Specialist I responsibilities are to support processing of claims for life insurance benefits, verify policy information, prepare claim file and review for appropriate payment of life insurance proceeds.&nbsp;
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Demonstrate and apply knowledge of industry requirements for payment of life insurance benefits, in accordance with SOP guidelines, state, IRS, claim administration practices and policy/contrary provisions.</li> <li>Consult with legal and tax business partners in a professional manner regarding claim issues.</li> <li>Execute Horace Mann Claims Promise Fulfillment process for agent benefit delivery.</li> <li>Knowledge of products, systems, and software including Mainframe, CK4, LifePro, AIMS, Onbase, Web Transactions, Page Center, and Microsoft office.</li> <li>Part of a flexible work group to maximize workflow efficiencies and ability to operate in a fast paced, standard driven, customer focused environment, while effectively utilizing telephony and claims administration systems.</li> <li>Identify SOP deficiencies and recommend corrections.</li> <li>Achieve or exceed service stands and productivity and quality goals.</li> <li>Perform additional support tasks such as cross-training, reporting, testing, and research.</li> <li>Recommend and implement process improvements.</li> <li>Strong understanding of internal accounting and ability to conduct research related to assigned transactions.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.</li> <li>Claims processing knowledge and experience.</li> <li>Analysis and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities.</li> </ul>
