Finance & Planning

$18.50/hour

Overview: <p><strong>This is not a remote position</strong></p> <p>Under close supervision, the Intern will develop technical skills and learn operational procedures and business practices. You will have the opportunity to work within our accounting department in various areas including reporting, tax and investments to receive experience related to a degreed educational program. Our program will offer a rotation between different areas to offer a broad accounting experience in the insurance industry.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Prepare daily and/or monthly journal entries for investment trades and valuations and closing.</li> <li>Compile supporting documentation to support auditor requests.</li> <li>Prepare monthly account reconciliations.</li> <li>Complete system balancing procedures and research.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Assist with the preparation of investment disclosures and management reporting.</li> <li>Assist with data submission to various state agencies and other interested parties. Prepare responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.</li> <li>Gain exposure to various tax types and issues including income tax, premium tax, withholding tax, information reporting and use taxes.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Calculate and prepare quarterly and annual tax returns, estimated tax payments, and related workpapers.</li> <li>Research technical matters, tax laws, and regulations</li> <li>Problem solving and troubleshooting skills required. In addition, the incumbent must be organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Must be pursuing a four-year degree program and may be receiving credits for internship toward graduation requirements.</li> <li>Requires a desire to enter in the Accounting field, demonstrated by enrollment in an applicable degree program.</li> <li>Must be able to work an average of 30 hours per week.</li> <li>Must be authorized to work in the United States without Employer Sponsorship.</li> </ul>
