Overview: As a&nbsp;<strong>Service Specialist</strong>&nbsp;on our&nbsp;<strong>Property &amp; Casualty (P &amp; C) underwriting team</strong>, you will play a vital role in supporting Horace Mann&rsquo;s mission to serve educators. You&rsquo;ll process and respond to policy change requests with care and precision, apply sound underwriting practices, and ensure our clients receive the outstanding service they deserve.
Responsibilities: <ul> <li><strong>Champion client needs.</strong>&nbsp;Evaluate and take action on inquiries and policy change requests from clients, agents, and third parties&mdash;via phone, email, chat, or written correspondence&mdash;within established service standards.</li> <li><strong>Ensure compliance and accuracy.</strong>&nbsp;Apply the correct client, policy, and household details in accordance with all regulatory and filed rule requirements.</li> <li><strong>Deliver educator-first service.</strong>&nbsp;Keep our educator-clients&rsquo; experience at the forefront, striving for first-contact resolution and once-and-done support with minimal customer effort.</li> <li><strong>Contribute to continuous improvement.</strong>&nbsp;Identify process gaps or redundancies and recommend improvements that enhance client outcomes and strengthen our controls.</li> <li><strong>Support key initiatives.</strong>&nbsp;Assist in system and process changes through project involvement and improvement programs aligned with P &amp; C underwriting goals.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent, required.</li> <li>A strong understanding of P &amp; C underwriting philosophies and best practices.</li> <li>Experience evaluating and processing change requests across various lines of business, preferably using Guidewire products or similar systems.</li> <li>A commitment to top-tier service with a focus on resolving client issues quickly, accurately, and with empathy.</li> <li>Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to serve both clients and internal stakeholders.</li> <li>A proactive mindset with comfort in navigating system tools and seeking opportunities to improve operations.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
