Overview: The Director, Finance &amp; Reporting will have extensive technical and specialized knowledge of insurance accounting and reporting, as well as life product knowledge. Broad working knowledge of effective control structures and key controls. Manages multiple related disciplines or a single high profile, very technical discipline. Partners with external auditors and regulators at the senior manager/manager level.
Responsibilities: <strong>Oversight to drive a successful accounting and reporting process including:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>GAAP financial reporting on a segment and consolidated level, external SEC reporting for a public company, FINRA reporting for Broker-Dealer</li> <li>External Statutory financial reporting on a statistical, product, and company level -- for, life and retirement companies</li> <li>Ensure appropriate accounting and analysis for the comprehensive range of accounts including cash, investments, expenses, insurance products, and equity accounts</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Core Competencies:</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Provide leadership in skills and professional development of the team</li> <li>GAAP and Statutory financial reporting</li> <li>Ability to juggle work with the heavy workload during the quarter-end and year-end requiring additional commitment</li> <li>Ensure collaboration and open communication with other areas of Finance and the broader organization</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred. Degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting preferred</li> <li>8 + years' GAAP and statutory life insurance accounting and reporting experience with 3+ years in management</li> <li>CPA or MA required, Public Accounting experience preferred</li> <li>Broker dealer experience and Series 27 license preferred</li> </ul>
