Overview: <p>Horace Mann Educators is the largest multiline insurance company in the U.S. focused on educators (K-12). We have several exciting positions available right now, including an Internal Audit -- Senior SOX Analyst based in either our Dallas TX or Springfield IL locations.</p> <p>The Internal Audit -- Senior SOX Analyst will have a thorough understanding of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), including materiality factors related to annual SOX planning. The Senior SOX Analyst will assist in the development of the annual financial, IT and third-party vendor risk assessment process, evaluate financial risks and controls, and, have direct interaction with business owners across the organization. This is a highly visible role in the organization with an opportunity to interact with all levels of management, including Senior Leadership.</p>
Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Facilitating the development and maintenance of SOX narratives and flowcharts with key business partners and conducting evaluations on control design and effectiveness.</li> <li>Leading communication activities to management regarding identified control deficiencies and track status of outstanding items and associated impacts to the financial statements.</li> <li>Partner with business owners in the rationalization and evaluation of SOX risks and controls.</li> <li>Perform and/or lead other SOX compliance projects as assigned with minimal oversight from the SOX Manager.</li> <li>Assisting in the development of SOX related reports for communication to Key SOX stakeholders including Senior Leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.</li> <li>Educate, evaluate, and advise business partners on internal SOX risks, controls, and mitigation in an evolving environment.</li> <li>Bring others together to ensure that SOX risks and controls are appropriately considered, identified early, and proactively handled in project development lifecycles.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, finance or related field required.</li> <li>Minimum of 5 years of prior SOX audit experience highly desire</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and National Association of Insurance Companies (NAIC) statutory reporting standards&nbsp;</li> <li>Possess at least one relevant professional designation (e.g., CPA, etc.) and Industry recognized licenses and certifications are considered a plus (e.g., CPCU, LOMA, FINRA series, etc.)&nbsp;</li> </ul>
