Overview: <br /> <p>Idaho Forest Group is currently seeking a Kiln Operator to join our team.<br /><br />Load and unload kilns drying lumber to a specified moisture content.</p> <p>Hourly wage: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour DOE.</p>
Responsibilities: <br /> <br /> <ul> <li>Load and unload kilns using forklift to ensure moisture content meets ALS for kiln dried lumber.</li> <li>Determine drying schedule by species, dimension, and quality of lumber.</li> <li>Activate, control and record temperature, humidity and ventilation of kilns.</li> <li>Program and monitor computers; fill out daily operator&rsquo;s report.</li> <li>Check moisture content at end of drying schedule, adjust drying schedule as needed.</li> <li>Set up dry and green lumber yard for efficient storage; maintain in an orderly manner.</li> <li>Replace defective pile bottoms; use roof caps as needed.</li> <li>Perform maintenance and lubrication on kilns and kiln carts as needed.</li> <li>Perform quality checks and measurements on green and dry lumber.</li> <li>Communicate any problems to supervisor, so supervisor may schedule planer accordingly.</li> <li>Shovel, plow snow, and sand as needed.</li> <li>Keep work area clean &ndash; clean up during any downtime.</li> <li>Comply with all company rules and regulations.</li> <li>Report maintenance problems and assist millwrights as needed.</li> <li>Consistently work at acceptable production levels.</li> <li>Other duties as needed.</li> </ul> <br /> <br />Specific job duties may vary per mill &amp; based on machinery, but this description is intended to cover the baseline. Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>Qualifications:<br /><br /></strong></p> <ul> <li>Forklift certification.</li> <li>Basic computer skills.</li> <li>Minimum one-year experience in lumber manufacturing.</li> <li>Read and understand printed materials.</li> <li>High School Diploma or GED.</li> <li>Valid Driver&rsquo;s License.</li> <li>Pass a drug, physical, and background check.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong><br /><br /><br /> <ul> <li>Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
