Overview: <br />The Accountant 1 is responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Responsibilities: <br /> <ul> <li>Perform some or all various accounting functions from the list below:</li> <li>Manage Letters of Credit and Bonds ensuring timely collection and processing in accordance with contractual terms of the transaction</li> <li>Prepare journal entries and coordinate the monthly close process</li> <li>Review and monitor accruals and journal entries</li> <li>Assist in collection of Accounts Receivable and prepare account reconciliations for certain accounts</li> <li>Accumulate and analyze material, labor and overhead cost per product</li> <li>Analyze product cost in relations to current established selling price</li> <li>Perform analytical cost studies on proposed new products</li> <li>Evaluate and help establish standard and correct cost in the computer</li> <li>Establish and maintain overhead rates, labor rates and purchased overhead rates including performing a quarterly review of actual rates vs. standard rates and performing a current cost roll at least once per year.</li> <li>Maintain and update job-costing system including: keying in system and field service engineer&rsquo;s labor hours and ensuring that all appropriate costs are being captured by the system.</li> <li>Participate in internal and external audits</li> <li>Review general ledger monthly and adjust as required</li> <li>Maintains fixed asset account. Tracking fixed assets to completion and closing project when completed</li> <li>Prepares monthly bank reconciliations</li> <li>May assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports</li> <li>Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions</li> </ul>
Requirements: <br /> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Effective written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Accurate and attentive to detail</li> <li>Good understanding of accounting principles</li> <li>Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills</li> <li>Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.</li> <li>Knowledge of Letters of Credit and International Banking helpful</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong><em>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE</em></strong></p> <p>BS degree in Accounting and 2-5 years&rsquo; experience in accounting or general business or an equivalent combination of education and experience</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</strong></p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.&nbsp;</p>
