Overview: <p><strong>JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE</strong></p> <p>The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring the timely compliance and reporting of corporate taxes, including income, franchise, gross receipts, sales, use, and property taxes.&nbsp;</p>
Responsibilities: <LI>Maintains tax compliance calendar for all tax activities.</LI><LI>Assists in the preparation of the annual tax package in order to timely file the federal, state, and local tax returns in a multi-state environment.</LI><LI>Assists in the preparation of the quarterly estimated tax calculations and filings, including the forecasting of tax depreciation and net income.</LI><LI>Assists with the tax depreciation calculations (Federal, State and AMT) in Sage FAS, including depreciation schedules, reconciliation of tax forms required including 4562 and 4797 and rollforward schedules for tax books.</LI><LI>Maintains deferred tax assets and liabilities schedules and reconciles balance sheet tax accounts.</LI><LI>Maintains the Avalara AvaTax sales and use tax database, including filing frequency, locations, items, etc.</LI><LI>Prepares sales and use tax returns via Avalara, reconciling with the general ledger.</LI><LI>Assists in the preparation of sales tax matrices for taxability per transactions in a multi-state environment.</LI><LI>Manage sales tax exemption certificates for clients via Avalara CertCapture.</LI><LI>Manage sales tax exemption certificates for suppliers.</LI><LI>Assists in managing external tax audits by state regulators.</LI><LI>Completes tax returns as required to maintain annual business licenses.</LI><LI>Completes tax reporting and renditions for property tax compliance, forecasting and tracking spend.</LI><LI>Completes Unclaimed Property Filings.</LI><LI>Maintains timely correspondence with tax authorities.</LI><LI>Provides input to accounting policies and SOPs related to recording, payment and tracking of taxes. Provides guidance to the field on tax related issues. Researches tax issues with regulatory agencies and auditors.</LI><LI>Assists other Finance team members with special projects. Other duties as assigned.</LI></UL>
Requirements: <p><strong>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS</strong></p> <p><strong><em>Education/Experience</em></strong>:&nbsp; BA/BS degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of experience in tax compliance reporting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).</p> <p><strong><em>Licenses/Certifications</em></strong>:&nbsp; Valid Driver&rsquo;s License.&nbsp; CPA preferred.</p> <p><strong><em>Technical</em></strong>:&nbsp; &nbsp;Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications &amp; internet.&nbsp; Thorough knowledge of U.S. tax rules and accounting principles.&nbsp; Familiar with relevant states tax rules. Familiar with Avalara or Vertex sales and use tax software.
