Creative Professional

Overview: <p>The LSU Foundation, Louisiana State University&rsquo;s primary fundraising arm for academics, is seeking a full-time videographer to further grow its development communications content, strategy and storytelling opportunities. This position, best described as a visual storyteller, will be an integral part of the communications and marketing team and will conceptualize, build, organize and share a library of videography and photography assets that illustrate the powerful impact of philanthropy at LSU. This team member will be a brand ambassador, relationship builder and key player in showcasing the difference gifts to LSU make in the lives of students, faculty and staff, and in the communities they serve every day.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>NOTE: &nbsp;Applicants are asked to provide link the following:</p> <ul> <li>A digital portfolio displaying a variety of still digital photography, limited to 25 photos, with a brief explanation of the original assignment and your creative thought process and contribution to each.</li> <li>An edited demo reel, limited to 5 minutes long, containing a minimum of three different projects with a brief explanation of the original assignment and your creative thought process and contribution to each.</li> </ul>
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with the assistant director of communications to conceptualize, identify and develop visual storytelling opportunities that feature the impact of philanthropy at LSU.</li> <li>Assist fellow colleagues on the communications and marketing team and campus-wide development and communication teams in producing videography and, preferably, photography that fulfills key development communication project needs.&nbsp;</li> <li>Manage and deliver key video and, ideally, photo projects according to expressed parameters, including target audience(s), purpose and message.</li> <li>Serve as a visual brand ambassador for videography and photography used in development communications across campus and ensure a cohesive image of the university.</li> <li>Develop a cloud-based organization system for all media assets, tag with metadata, share and collaborate with development and communication staff and archive as necessary.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a photojournalistic and editing style that is a true expression of the university and its donors.</li> <li>Perform writing, planning, filming, editing and post-production duties as projects require.</li> <li>Optimize use of videography and photography assets by transforming them for multi-platform and multi-project use.</li> <li>Organize videography and photography assets and catalog projects.</li> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships across campus.</li> <li>Assess needs and recommend purchases of videography and photography equipment.</li> <li>Care, maintain and store all videography and photography equipment and systems.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <div class="job-listing-header"><strong>Requirements</strong></div> <div data-bind="html: Job.Requirements"> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in broadcasting, videography, photography, journalism or related field</li> <li>At least two years professional experience creating video and/or photo content&nbsp;</li> <li>Detailed understanding of video, audio and photo production theory and practice</li> <li>Expert proficiency in key facets of video production, including writing, filming, sound recording, editing and mastering</li> <li>Working knowledge of professional video and photo editing software&nbsp;</li> <li>Working knowledge of professional video platforms</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Expert proficiency in key facets of photography including equipment operation, lighting, framing, editing, printing and outputting for print and web</li> <li>Working knowledge of Adobe Suite</li> <li>Professional experience working in in a marketing and/or communications department setting</li> <li>Proficiency in capturing a variety of photographic styles, including portraits, products, candids, general features and landscapes</li> <li>Flexible schedule to allow for occasional shoots beyond regular workdays and workhours</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Opportunity to supervise part-time communications student worker</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to carry video/photography equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without lifting devices for distances up to 100 yards</li> <li>Must have good visual acuity for the operation of multimedia equipment</li> <li>Must be able to spend extended periods of time working at a computer workstation</li> <li>May be required to work occasional extended workdays, evenings and weekends to meet deadlines</li> <li>Travel is limited to occasional special projects and/or professional development conferences</li> </ul> </div>
