Overview: <p>The Assistant Vice President of Advancement Services serves a significant role within the LSU Foundation by leading the Advancement Services department. Advancement Services is a strategic and trusted partner in the advancement enterprise. Advancement Services provide the LSU Foundation and campus colleagues with relevant, high quality information and analysis in an effective and proactive manner to build and support the infrastructure necessary to reach our ambitious fundraising goals. The AVP plays a critical role in helping the overall organization meet fundraising goals and embark on strategic initiatives through research and business intelligence, technology, and other projects. &nbsp;This position reports directly the President &amp; CEO of the LSU Foundation and sits on the executive management team.</p> <p>The department operates from the following mission: Advancement Services captures, preserves and analyzes information to guide the sound and effective advancement and overall business decisions for the LSU Foundation. We establish principles, adhere to guidelines and apply technical solutions to minimize risk and maximize philanthropic investment. Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide strategic leadership including long and short-term planning in Advancement Services department, consisting: Analytics, Donor Relations, Information Services, Records Management and Research &amp; Prospect Management</li> <li>Build and maintain relationships with development staff and campus colleagues to improve services and systems</li> <li>Ultimate oversight of the alumni and donor database with over 500,000 constituent records</li> <li>Manage operations and salary budgets and prepare spending projections</li> <li>Write and update policies and procedures related to data and department functionalities</li> <li>Participate in strategic planning processes and successfully execute Advancement Services deliverables</li> <li>Maintain vendor and consultant relationships</li> <li>Maintain high quality service levels to all constituents through, customer service, transparent communication, project management and resource allocation</li> <li>Responsible for philanthropic institutional reporting (examples: monthly fundraising reporting, campaign reporting, VSE, etc.)</li> <li>Partner with campus and system colleagues on data and service sharing initiatives (ex. Tiger Athletic Foundation and the LSU Alumni Association)</li> <li>Serve on the campaign planning team and execute Advancement Services deliverables</li> <li>Stay current with trends in philanthropy, data management, and with the technical developments that apply to the advancement profession and communicate and lead within the organization in applying these developments</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Attend and present at events or meetings as needed</li> <li>Participate in quarterly board of director&rsquo;s meetings</li> <li>Complete projects as requested by President and CEO</li> <li>Participate in cross-campus committees and workgroups</li> </ul>
Requirements: <div class="job-preview-details"> <div class="job-listing-header"><strong>Requirements</strong></div> <div data-bind="html: Job.Requirements"> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university</li> <li>10+ years of experience supervising/managing advancement services programs reflecting a continual increase/expansion of duties and responsibilities</li> <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in the management of data processing departments</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact comfortably, tactfully, and effectively with varied internal and external constituencies &nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of core regulatory doctrine including IRS, FASB/GASB, CASE, FERPA, PCI, HIPAA, etc.</li> <li>Extensive technical knowledge with alumni/development computer systems with emphasis on reporting tools. &nbsp;Leadership of a major system implementation/conversion is desirable</li> <li>Proven project management experience in an advancement initiative, preferably in a multiple-entity higher education environment</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgement in making independent decisions concurrent with LSU Foundation mission and values</li> <li>A commitment to continuous process improvement</li> <li>Outstanding, proven, written and oral communications skills. &nbsp;Communicated in an inclusive and transparent manner</li> <li>Experience analyzing and redesigning business processes and leading teams to meet organizational goals</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree in related field, or a certificate/degree in nonprofit management</li> <li>Project Management Certification (PMP) certification</li> <li>Experience with Advance database, iModules, JIRA, Advizor, and other fundraising, project management and business intelligence systems</li> <li>Experience working in a large decentralized university environment</li> <li>Experience supporting a multi-faceted comprehensive campaign</li> <li>Experience in managing complex IT projects</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Supervision of six direct reports and an overall staff of 30+</li> <li>Annual performance evaluations</li> <li>Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for staff</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Professional attire</li> <li>Maintains at a minimum, standard office hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm business days</li> <li>As part of the executive management team, after-hours and weekend work is sometimes required</li> </ul> </div> </div>
