The Accounting Manager ensures that the accounting records and financial statements of the LSU Foundation are prepared timely and accurate each month and at fiscal year end. This individual will also be expected to multi-task and solve complex accounting issues and manage and develop accounting staff.

Manager

Overview: The Accounting Manager ensures that the accounting records and financial statements of the LSU Foundation are prepared timely and accurate each month and at fiscal year end. This individual will also be expected to multi-task and solve complex accounting issues and manage and develop accounting staff. This individual must be exceptionally well organized and have the ability to work under pressure and meet assigned deadlines and also enforce deadlines for direct reports. This position will work closely with the Controller and CFO and also serve as a key accounting contact person for staff across the organization and campus.
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage operations of the Accounting department and maintain the general ledger system of LSU Foundation (LSUF) and related LLCs.</li> <li>Manage preparation of financial statements, schedules, calculations, brokerage and financial institution account reconciliations, and general ledger entries for LSUF and related LLCs.</li> <li>Prepare timely and accurate external and internal financial statements and ensure adherence with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</li> <li>Analyze and review supporting schedules for monthly operating budget projections including current and multi-year forecasts for LSUF, as well as review the Operating Statement.</li> <li>Manage reconciliation of custodial accounts and analyze monthly investment statements.</li> <li>Coordinate preparation of annual reports to Louisiana Board of Regents.</li> <li>Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.</li> <li>Respond to and resolve inquiries from beneficiaries and third parties.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Review and prepare year-end closing entries and procedures for LSUF.</li> <li>Assist in preparation of annual operating budget, as requested by CFO and Controller.</li> <li>Assist in preparation of quarterly Board of Director&rsquo;s finance and audit committee packets as requested by CFO and Controller.</li> <li>Manage full process for preparation of IRS Form 990 (which is externally prepared) for the LSU Foundation.</li> <li>Assist in preparation of FYE audit work papers as assigned by Controller.</li> <li>Complete projects/reports as requested by CFO and Controller.</li> <li>Perform technical accounting research and apply knowledge to complex transactions as requested by CFO and Controller.</li> </ul>
