Reporting to the Director of Donor and Volunteer Engagement, the Associate Director will support the comprehensive engagement program with a focus on the development of regional events, activities and donor visits to deepen institutional involvement in cities with key donor populations. This position will collaborate with LSU Leadership to ensure the University’s most generous donors and volunteers are actively and intentionally connected to their giving.

Associate Director

Overview: Reporting to the Director of Donor and Volunteer Engagement, the Associate Director will support the comprehensive engagement program with a focus on the development of regional events, activities and donor visits to deepen institutional involvement in cities with key donor populations. This position will serve as a resource for all LSU affiliates, colleges, units; and campuses belonging to the LSU system and collaborate with LSU Leadership to ensure the University&rsquo;s most generous donors and volunteers are actively and intentionally connected to their giving.&nbsp;
Responsibilities: <p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>(40%) Donor &amp; Volunteer Engagement Events:</strong>&nbsp;Responsible for the management and coordination of the University&rsquo;s regional donor engagement efforts, both locally and in key out-of-state markets. Collaborate with major gift officers, committee members, Deans and administration to develop, plan and implement unique donor engagement opportunities and experiences that inspire philanthropy and lead to deeper relationships between donors and the institution. Successful implementation requires independent decision making about all aspects of event logistics to meet the desired event strategy and produce measured results. This includes researching and designing strategic event concepts, scheduling event dates, selecting venues and vendors and negotiating contracts, managing internal event proposals and reports and writing collateral copy, remarks, and event messaging. Utilize the advancement database to input donor information, pull lists and reports and track various event tasks such as participant registration and seating arrangements. Actively seek feedback from colleagues as well as donors and event attendees to integrate feedback into future event plans.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>(30%) Principal Gift Engagement Plans and Projects:&nbsp;</strong>Collaborate with the Director of Donor &amp; Volunteer Engagement to identify and generate engagement opportunities and new initiatives to enhance donor experiences. &nbsp;Participate in the creation of individualized stewardship and engagement plans for the University&rsquo;s top donors and leadership-level volunteers, working in close collaboration with the Principal Gifts team and other key stakeholders. Partners with LSU affiliates, colleges, units, and campuses to craft meaningful events, activities, donor communications and other touches that unite University needs with the unique passions of top donors and volunteers.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>(15%) Support National Board Initiatives:</strong>&nbsp;Work in tandem with the director to support projects and events related to the National Board, including their annual campus visit, ongoing virtual meetings and regular communications and updates. Track engagement touches in Advance and assist with reporting outcomes of the National Board engagement plan.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>(15%) Annual planning and reporting:</strong>&nbsp;Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of a strategic and comprehensive donor relations program. Identify event goals and fulfill them through strategic event programming. Prepare appropriate reporting records, summary evaluation reports and year-end reports to measure event and activity effectiveness. Monitor income and expenditures for projects/events to assure alignment with the budget. Collaborate and assist team members with tasks for large events and projects as needed.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Marginal Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Utilize Advance to track, monitor, and manage engagement activities for donors, prospects, and volunteers and evaluate programming and determine the return on investment.&nbsp;</li> <li>Participates in and contributes to the University-wide Donor Relations Council.</li> </ul>
Requirements: <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree and a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a development, nonprofit or university setting, with an emphasis in donor relations, stewardship, event management or fundraising.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience managing high-profile events in a fast-paced environment and proven project management experience along with demonstrated analytical, strategic-thinking, adaptability, communication and relationship-building skills are essential.</li> <li>Working knowledge of databases such as Raiser&rsquo;s Edge, Advance or similar and expert proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.</li> <li>Must be extraordinarily organized, demonstrate a meticulous attention to detail, and juggle multiple and varied tasks simultaneously to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.</li> <li>Professional and diplomatic demeanor, strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently, as a member of a group or committee.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skill Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ideal candidate will have regularly participated in professional associations such as the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Association of Donor Relations Professionals, Association of Advancement Services Professional or Association of Fundraising Professionals.</li> <li>Master&rsquo;s degree and/or Certified Fund-raising Executive (CFRE) is desirable.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience working on large and complex fundraising projects especially major, multi-year capital campaigns, with specific experience in donor stewardship.&nbsp;</li> <li>Exceptional written and oral communication skills and experience writing and producing event collateral.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>This position may manage student worker(s).&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Will be required to occasionally work extended workdays, evenings and weekends.&nbsp;</li> <li>Travel, both locally and out-of-state, is required to manage offsite events.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
